@Juliepants: oohh I forgot it, I will put it in. Isn't everyone sick of turky after Thanksgiving?
I like pork loin, ham, chicken, turkey, and roast beef. I'm not much help. :)
Have you asked your guests what they would prefer? If it's only 10, you could just call around and see what they like.
@piglet_625: They just say whatever we would like to make is fine. So no help there either:(
Our chef friend makes this fantastic beef tenderloin with bordelaise sauce. It's seriously my favorite food ever. Thank goodness for chef connections.
My family makes ham, but since I don't like ham, they also make one of those turkey loaves or buy a small rotisserie chicken.
@MrsMeNow: I'm Canadian, so the last turkey I had was at our Thanksgiving which is in October. ;) I'm ready for more!
(Ok, I had a turkey sandwich 2 days ago, but I'm not counting cold cuts here.)
My family does lobster, crab and shrimp as our big Christmas meal. We have that Christmas eve, which is our big day of celebration. Christmas day we do a small dinner with turkey, but the main event is the lobster/crab/shrimp (YUM!)
I looooooovvvveeee me some ham! So that was my vote. I also like chicken! Yummo!
Turkey all the way! We do turkey for Thanksgiving, Christmas, and sometimes Easter!
For the pp who mentioned lobster please STOP jk, i just left Maine and i didnt get to try one teeny weeny tail, im sooo jealous lol. I love ham w/ cloves, cherries, and pineapple but maybe you can pair it with something else. I need to ask, is that a real cat??
My family always gets a big honey-baked ham. Yum!!
I'm an Italian so we do fish and lasagna/baked ziti, meatballs, etc.
We always have a big dinner on Christmas eve with fish and/or shellfish. I think it is an italian tradition (though we are not italian). Last year it was lobster and scallops, and delicious. For actual christmas, we often have lamb or something fun and different like cornish game hens.
We like to have lamb for Christmas.
@Mr.Smithsgirl: I am not sure. When I was looking for a new avitar I found it saved on my computer, it was a picture I had used in one of our funny animal picture threads (with my original name).
You guys are coming up with some great suggestions. I am definately open to trying something different!
My sister usually does a big prime rib for Christmas Even, then I do a seafood lunch on Christmas Day.
Christmas Eve we always have fish (which I can't eat). Christmas day, always turkey. Some of my family used to do ham for boxing day, which I hate, but my aunt hated it too, so she would make a small amount of Swedish meatballs, just for the two of us.
We do seafood, (Lobster, seafood casserole, bacon wrapped scallops and shrimp) Christmas eve because my FI si full bloded Acadian and I am half. We also do Turkey for our Christmas day meal as well as meat pies. You can bet that a holiday involving Acadians and Irish/Scottish decendants is celebrated arround food. :)
For our American cousins; Acadians are the cousins of your Cajuns who were originally French settlers who were expelled from Nova Scotia Canada and settled in the New Orleans area
Some sort of roast beef - tenderloin, tri tip or prime rib if you're feeling fancy!
I like to have ham on Christmas. I just had turkey on Thanksgiving and ate on it for days. LOL
I love brown sugar on my ham too, btw!

I am hosting Christmas and can't decide what kind of meat to make. There will be about 10 of us and I can't decide if I should do the traditional ham or something else. Or do a small ham and another option? I was thinking pork loin. Any great ides or recipes, throw them out there!
