I would personally call the bride to decline and apologize for the confusion.

Definitely call asap to let them know you won’t be able to come.  Otherwise they may end up paying for a meal that doesn’t get eaten!

Please make sure to call.  I had a small wedding and when a guest and her +1 didn’t show without a call, it was a big deal.

Just make sure to give them a call ASAP, and apologise, shouldn’t be that much of an issue – unless the wedding is…tomorrow…

call as soon as possible, they can still save money, my reception has a deadline 96 hours prior

Ditto PP’s regarding calling the bride ASAP in order to avoid them paying for meals that don’t get eaten.  My deadline for my caterer was  4 or 5 days before the event.  I’m sure they would appreciate it!

definitely agree with everyone, CALL ASAP!! its no big deal if you cant make it but you have to let them know! it would be so rude not to. they may be able to invite someone else in your place, i know with our huge guest list, we had to cut it back but if people cant make it, we’re able to invite others.

I agree with everyone else – call, apologize, and send a gift.

Just to add to what everyone is saying…call…not just because they may or may not save money, but I knew each and every guest that was supposed to be at our wedding (if not personally at least from seeing their names on multiple guest planning lists for the 11 months we planned our wedding) We had a couple no-show and I was pretty worried during the reception since it was unlike them to not show up.
