that's funny. my boyfriend's a huge hockey fan and i had a bet with him last year that if the bruins made it to the finals he had to ask me to marry him this year. this stemmed from a joke that we had about how the first day we started talking, the bruins lost their first of 3 game lead in the playoffs (and ended up losing in that round). he thought i was jinxed. too bad they sucked in the playoffs this past year too!
i think that was is the absolute worst part of waiting when they give you a year. my boyfriend had said to me around the start of hockey finals time that he would probably ask me this year anyway. that was back in april. he still hasn't asked. i think he's just waiting until the very last possible moment, because that's how all men are. haha. 
Haha!!! Thats awesome, that is sooo something my BF would say.
I am convinced that my BF will pop the Q on Valentines Day so technically that is after football season lol!

Even though he says not during football season, I would keep quiet about it from now on so that he thinks you forgot (silly boys thinking that we can forget).
@missab- hahaha yeah I sorta did this to my BF until last night. Acted like I "forgot" about it. Best part is, I think he believed me lol
haha, well football season does last through the winter if it includes pro football. so here's hoping he means college football!
Haha, that's funny. When we first talked about marriage, the Dude was like "I'm not getting married during football season." Well, we ended up doing it anyway! When it came down to actually planning the wedding and thinking about seeing all of our friends/family he got really excited and didn't mind missing a weekend of football. (Not to mention the two weeks during our honeymoon!) Guys are silly.
Wow. lol. That's funny. my FI used to fake like he was proposing and I'd end up with a chocolate bar. Jerk. haha.
ahh haha..yea he means college football..he actually works with the football team at an SEC school, so yea..said he would like the coaches invited..lol..i have given up asking him though because i will always get the same answer! I did try to be slick and asked him when his uncle was proposing to his gf and he said "after i ask you" haha! well i said "i better call her and tell her not to hold her breath!"
hahaha..i was getting annoyed with him! oh and he will only give me 6 months to plan things! agghh men!
@hisbarista: lol..chocolate bars?! if i wasnt because i loved chocolate bars i would have thrown them at him!

HAHA! So i was being my annoying self tonight and i said to BF " So i know you wont tell me when you will propose but for my sanity and planning sake can you tell me what season you have in mind on getting married?!" and of course his smart butt self says " NOT DURING FOOTBALL SEASON!" haha..so i asked again " And it is going to happen in 2010" and he responds " i hope so"

so i have spring, summer, and winter! Does that mean i will be asked during Christmas? Valentines? or next Christmas? i really do not want to get my hopes up because last Christmas i thought it was it for sure and nothing..i got a pearl necklace! that jerk even wrapped in like 10 boxes..box inside a box and inside another and so on. The necklace was nice and so thoughtful but he built it up like it was a ring! haha
