I got engaged on Jan 2nd of this year, so it will be a short engagement but my Fiance and I are tying the knot on July 28th! About a week after he proposed, we both got letters from our college for next year and found that our financial situation will be significantly better if we get married before the fall semester begins. We’re cutting it close, but we wanted to have as much time as possible to prepare!!!
I can’t help but feel that it still isn’t enough time! In addition to planning and pulling off the wedding, I’m also finishing my AAS at my current college this semester, and working to save up enough to pay for the wedding, school, and next year’s college! I’m doing a largely DIY wedding because A) I’d like to think I’m creative crafty, and B) I’m finding tons of useful stuff around the house I can craft into decorations, and C) I’m too broke to buy the things I want, so I’ll make them instead.
Any other July brides feeling the stress coming down this first half of 2012?

You can do it! I know it’s stressful (i’m feeling the pressure and I got engaged a long time before you!), but just set things out by date – plan dates when certain tasks must be finished by, and stick to your schedule!
With this little time, I’d suggest looking for a coordinator to help you, but I understand that money is tight and it may not be feasible, but it would take off so much stress from you.

I’m also feeling pretty stressed, although I got engaged in August. Like you, I’m a student and it’s hard to study and plan a wedding the same time! I hope all of your projects go well for you!

No worries! I decided two weeks ago that I’m getting married on July 20th… with 4 months to plan! I’m actually still calm… 🙂 I have a dress, location for the wedding, minister, venue, and caterer, and am deciding between two photographers 🙂 Things are coming together! Best of luck to you!

Oh I understand I get stressed about time and then I went to cut my chair wraps which I thought it would take days and it took hours. Such a good feeling to get things done faster than expected. I wish I had friends and family around to help but I have Fiance who is way to busy with work. Tomorow I hope to put in the order for our wedding bands yay.

@everalwaysrealtrue: Date twin!
I also agree. I started way before, but even I feel like it’s coming up way too fast. The good news for me is all the major things are done. It’s the small things I’m missing.
The problem is I won’t be back in Canada until the end of June, which doesn’t leave me a lot of time -_-

I am totally with you!!
I am also graduating in May with my AA. So between these last few classes, planning on next semester, and the wedding, I feel totally stressed out. We have been married for 7 years so this will be a vow renewal, however, we never had a wedding the first time, just the courthouse thing, so we are doing a whole wedding bash this time around.
Just pick one or two things you can get done in a day.
Yesterday, for example, I ordered my lanterns, throwie lights, girdle and bra. BAM! 4 things crossed off the list.
I know that once May 12th rolls around, graduation day, I will be able to bust out all of my DIY projects. There are a ton of them and I just have to remember to do a few things everyday.
You can do it! Just remember to breath and have fun.

@naturalysam: I think that is a great idea! Men are very visual, that is why to-do lists are so useful! hehehe

It’s frustrating I know, I’m also a student graduating this May as well with my Masters. I’m completly stressed and the Fiance really hasn’t been the biggest of help, always says he wants to be involved but have to needle him to get anything at all done. It’s driving me crazy. But I just keep thinking, once graduation comes and goes it will be a cake walk til the wedding. Once I stop panicking that that will then only be a month and a half to the wedding!!!!! Ahhhhh!!!
