So, this isn’t TERRIBLE (could be worse), but it sure is irritating and putting a damper on my day.
Last night Darling Husband was leaving his office Christmas party, and the parking lot is not well lit and he ran over the curb. Well, THE AIRBAGS DEPLOYED. Seriously?! He literally got out and measured the curb and it was 6 inches. I guess he hit it really hard or something. Plus, when the airbag cover flipped up on the passenger side, it cracked the windshield.
Today he called around to see how much it is going to cost to fix, and the airbags can easily be $1500 EACH. Not to mention the windshield. The whole car is not even worth that much. So now we have my 1 car to share, in which the windows don’t work, the (power) seats don’t work, the radio is broken, and it leaks when it rains.
Now we will probably be getting a new car. I wanted to put off car payments as long as possible (both of our cars now are old and paid for) because we’re saving to buy a house. But it has to be done, my schedule will be changing in January and there’s no way we can get by with 1 car for long.
All over a stupid curb. Ugh!

Ugh! I can see why that would put you in a bad mood. What rotten luck! I hope things turn around for you soon. At least he wasn’t hurt!

It’s a nuisance so therefore I’d be in a bad mood too. (hugs)

@MapleMoose: & @Rouquine: Thanks for the comfort :). I’m so glad he wasn’t hurt too, he scared me to death when he called but he was just mad…lol.

Ugh, what an awful day. Cars are a huge pain in my ass. When we were moving cross-country we had to stop in the middle of South Dakota to find a place to fix my car after it broke down…. we were sitting on a curb next to wendys with 2 1yr old weim pups on a leash for hours.

@hismm: Oh no!! Breaking down always sucks, especially when you’re not familiar with the area. A few months ago Darling Husband and I were driving from Connecticut to North Carolina and broke down somewhere in New Jersey. 700 dollars later we were back on the road…you are definitely right about cars being a pain in the ass!!
And that was the same car in which the airbags deployed. Grr!

Oh my god. Well, at least they went off over something small, when I went under the back of a bus last winter (hit ice, couldn’t stop), the airbags did NOT deploy.
But that is super irritating. Is he ok? Airbags can sometimes hit a person’s chest so hard they bruise the heart!

@soyjoy222: That’s awful that your airbags DIDN’T deploy when they needed to!!
He’s okay, he actually said that the airbag barely brushed his face. I was expecting him to say that he was hurt because I’ve heard stories of them burning you, bruising your face, busting your nose…but none of that happened to him, luckily.
Actually makes me wonder if the airbags were working properly to begin with because it doesn’t sound like they would have been much help in a serious accident.
