So, a family friend sent an invitation for their daughter’s quiceñera addressed to The O Family. I don’t know who this invite encompasses. Technically, the O family consists of my mom and dad, my older sister 24, me 21, and younger brother 18. But my sister has a baby with her longtime boyfriend and I’m engaged. All things they know. I don’t want to ask if FIs invited, but I wasn’t told whether +1s were allowed. Normally, the family will be given a +1 and one of the kids will use it for a friend. I don’t know what they’re doing, though. Thoughts?

@HonoraryNerd: At most of the Quinces I’ve been to it’s pretty much a free for all. Invitations are generally not as strict as weddings since it’s more common to have family members helping to foot the bill. (I’ve actually seen “Padrinos de los nachos” on an invitation! My mom was “Madrina de los paper plates and plastic forks” once. No joke.)

I’m not super familiar with the details regarding a quiceñera, but I’d be pretty stumped by that too and I think I’d go ahead and call and ask about it just to be sure since it’s so vague.

I’d think it meant the household. But I’d call & ask if you’re not sure.
