not so sure about makeup - suggestions?

So I LIKE but don't LOVE my makeup from my recent trial. I think my issue is that my MUA used this purplish shadow around my eyes to make the blue eyes pop, and it DOES work, but it's not really a color I ever wear. I do want my eyes to pop but I'm not sure about the color. I need input here. Also, they always say you do eyes or lips so she didn't do a lip color on me (I have naturally dark lip color) but I'm not entirely sure that I don't want some color.

Any suggestions/thoughts appreciated. HONEST opinions wanted. I'm wearing my big girl panties.

I think you look really pretty and natural, which is the look I am going for! It doesn't look like you are wearing tons of make-up, which is why I like it. Do you want it to be more dramatic? Maybe try a darker color for your eyeshadow, or add lashes. What type of look are you trying to achieve?

I really like your make-up! I actually like the color that was used on your eyes. I think it is purple, but not 70s disco club purple, lol I totally understand about how scary it is to go out of your comfort zone, but I think you look beautiful. The make-up is natural looking and highlights your facial features.

@brittromance - LOL I am actually wearing lashes there - my natural lashes don't have much going on. I don't know. I am going for a natural look I guess because I really don't want to be OVER made-up. Originally she had the eyes darker but it was just too much for me (I don't usually wear a lot of makeup) and I had her take some of the shadow off the lid. I think my issue is with the purple. Like I said, I don't HATE it but I'm contemplating going back to her in a month or two and playing around with something else and I don't really know what to tell her! Shows how much I know about makeup :)

I think that your make-up looks very pretty, its not heavy and it still shows up in pictures..Its very natural looking You could try to have her do something more dramatic and decide which one you like best ya kno? But overall I like it!

I like the purple on your eyes, but I can totally relate to what you are saying about not being used to that color.  My MUA used golds and bronze colors on my eye, and although it looked good, I just couldn't get past it because I rarely use those colors on my eyes, so I think I'm going to use shades I'm more comfortable with.  I think if the purple is throwing you off you aren't going to feel comfortable with it in the long run.  I think she can give you the same look by using a different color.

I also think it would look good to go bolder with your lipcolor, because your eyes aren't over the top.

I think it looks gorgeous and natural!  I felt sort of weird in my makeup too since I'm not really a makeup girl (I want to be but I don't know how to apply it correctly).

@Tulip - that's so funny because when I do use eye color, I usually go for golds/bronzes. Maybe I should have her try something in that color family if I do another trial. That's kind of what I was thinking. As far as lip color goes, what would you suggest? I usually wear a brownish red but I'm a little wary of that for the wedding because I worry it will make my teeth look yellower going with such a bold color. I guess it's worth a try, though.

I thnk you looked very more natural in the first shot. the others make you look like you have cake on your face. I like your other lip color also. It's a nice neutral.

@tytbody - that's interesting because the makeup is exactly the same in all three pictures. it's obviously not professional photography and none of the shots were taken in natural light. also, i'm not wearing any lip color in any of the pics, just gloss.

@kittyachi - I think a brighter medium pink lipcolor would look good.  I think it gives a really fresh look...maybe something like this...sorry for the huge pic!:

they are the same? shows what a camera can do. some being too close may be or too much flash on the second ones. Other than that, It's cool. But I still love your natural lip color plane gloss on you is great:)

Well it certainly would be easier to just wear gloss! Maybe at my next trial I'll have her

    (a) try bronze/gold tones on my eyes instead of the purple

    (b) try a medium pink lip with that

    (c) then try a more red shade (not TOO red)

I think that would cover any potential looks I would consider, then I can decide from there.

I think it looks really pretty, but for some reason it seems like your forehead is a much lighter color than the rest of your face. Maybe some color up there as well? Also maybe a hair too light under the eyes. Sometimes MUAs tend to over-conceal and over-lighten the under-eye area, and it ends up bringing MORE attention to it.

Overall though, it looks great. Those are just minor things since you said you had your big-girl britches on. :)

You have a gorgeous natural lip color girlie~ :) I would personally choose to work around that color~ and compliment the eyes to the lips~ but anyhoo...one thing to keep in mind that GLOSS requires way more touching up! especially after smooching~ ;) which wouldn't be an issue if you had a lipliner/lipstick underneath and then just retouched the gloss when you have time. Although if you have a BM or a MOH that has a little bag and their sole responsibility would be to watch out for your lipgloss and pull you aside to touch it up real quick it's not a big deal. Red lips is very high maintenance~ something to think about~

I love purple lol~ but in the photos the purple is not very prominent~ It does look very pretty and natural though! Gold/Bronze would be a great option as well.  But seriously, if you don't like purple, don't do purple and don't let anyone/your MUA talk you into it~ !

I personally think that the shade of purple that she used is too blue and it just matches your eyes but does not really complement them.  Purple shadow is supposed to complement hazel/green eyes, not really blue.

I think that either a brownish/goldish or a pinkish color would look really nice with blue eyes.  And definitely use brown eyeliner instead of black or grey.

I totallt agree with jackie t4701!

I have caramel brown eyes and purple brings out the hazel/gold flecks in them. Brown eyeshadow would probably work best with your eyes. As far as your lips go, they are perfect..if you are going for the natural look, you dont want a harsh looking color you know? Either way, you look fantastic!

I think your look would pop more if your eyeliner was more intense (*much* darker application).  Most folks shy away from *heavy* eyeliner . . . but by heavy I mean darker pigment as opposed to a thicker line, a la more of a liquid liner look, but still just as delicate.  It would also help to make your lashes look thicker and fuller, and give you a little more *bang* for your faux lashes.  It may make you a little more flirty, too, lol.  I seem to be flirtier when my lashes are long and lush!

I would also consider putting a small amount of lip liner on your top lip to make the *bow* of your upper lip a little more pronounced, just be sure to blend well (you can feather it off toward the middle and end of your upper lip to avoid looking like you have just an outline when your color/gloss starts to wear off a little).  It will balance out your whole mouth, and provide color when your gloss starts to wear off (just like Skyla mentioned above).

I agree the purple would seem too much if youre not used to it.... did you try a lighter shade - like cream?

I think what you posted in #14 is spot on. You look great, but don't wear purple if it's not a color you're comfortable with. You want to feel like yourself in your makeup.

You look gorgeous, but I think it's important to feel like the makeup is 'you,' so if the colours don't feel like you, try something else.  What about neutral shades of cream and brown, to contour your eyes, with brown or black liner and false lashes?

I would also suggest using a pink coloured blush - the blush looks a little bit like bronzer.  I think the pink would look more natural, and also play up your lovely blue eyes.  Maybe find some inspiration pics of other brides with your colouring.

I have blue eyes, too and my MUA suggested golds and browns when I didn't want to do purples.  You can check out my recent wedding pic posts to see how it looked, but I think those browns really bring out the blue.  Also, if you want a pretty natural lip, my MUA used a nude/ brown liner and the MAC lipglass called Oyster Girl.  However, you look lovely in your photos as you are! :)
