My fiance received a cool "branding iron" from being in a friends wedding. It has his initials and he can brand his steaks, or whatever he is grilling.
My FIs groomsmen are all outdoors-y types. So he got them a knife, a compass & a flashlight. Wasn't able to get them engraved though, thats the only thing he's bummed about.
I think my FI is getting his groomsmen the 2G USB flash drives from Things Remembered as one of their gifts, they are on a keychain, can be engraved on both sides and are silver plated. They are also all early - mid 30's.
I think FI is going to get his GM Fossil watches. We've been in a lot of weddings as well and didn't want to do an alchol-focused gift. We will probably add a six pack of their favorite beer, or their favorite liquor, to have the morning of the wedding, but that won't be the main focus of the gift.
My FH got a sort-of typical gift for his guys - a Swiss Army knife - but he got one that has a flash drive in it. I'm pretty sure it's this one: http://www.amazon.com/Victorinox-SwissMemory-Storage-Device-Translucent/dp/B0002VM8ZM/ref=sr_1_2?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1276186296&sr=8-2
The flash drive is on the small side (won't be able to use it for movies, or their entire music collection or anything like that), but it's enough that they'll be able to use it for photos and documents.
We got Flip Video camcorders for the groomsmen (and the bridesmaids too actually!). We figure they will use them at the wedding itself to take some video clips, but they can also use them a ton after the wedding. Our wedding party are all also in their early 30's, and they are settling down -- i.e. they have pets, kids, nieces, nephews, etc that they will want to video in the near future.
We got the groomsman Samsonite travel bags and Molton Brown body wash from Saks :)
What about taking them all to see a sports game or concert together with their tickets as their gifts?
We are considering good chef's knives. The shun ken onion series is really nice looking.
@ Skibobrown: I love that idea! I would so love it if I got a flip video!
The hubby and I got the GM's G-Shock watches! All his boys are the athletic type so they loved them and they weren't too expensive. We purchased them @ Costco which is probably why they were affordable.
I think my FI is also going to get his groomsmen meat branding irons with their initials - its a very manly thing - lol! We also got our entire bridal party glasses (white wine for the girls and pilsner for the guys) made by an ETSY seller handpainted with their name, their likeness, etc and we're going to have them all displayed at the head table.
I'm really loving this steak branding irons!!! What a neat idea :]
@beginningtofly,
LOVE the Swiss Army USB drive! sending it to FI to see what he thinks!
Googling initial grill branding.
Get something non-matching non-wedding-related that fits their individual hobbies and interests, whatever those may be.
Thanks for the ideas! So many good options!
@Skibobrown: love the video idea...hope we can find one in budget
@nevjcu : We love Molton Brown...nice choice!
@qui40067 : Think we may try and get my FI's brothers/GM tix to a local NFL game this fall.
Also, one of my coworkers just mentioned that he bought his GM's shoes for the wedding at Johnson & Murphy as part of their gifts. Higher end of a budget but practical idea I thought I'd share!
I like the swiss army knife/utility knife idea if the guys are handy types.
My fiance just got them all Jersey of their favorite sport/player..I thought it was a great idea..
@speulie- LOVE the flash drive idea!! We're def stealing it! Thank you for helping us with one of the hardest tasks yet! :)
My FI and the groomsmen are wearing Chacos instead of dress shoes, so FI is buying all of them. It's great to buy something that will be well used. I can definitely see a small video camera falling into that category.
"Customizable cufflinks & more. If your fiance finds the idea of giving cufflinks as groomsman gifts a little cliche,he clearly hasn't been to this site. It offers everything from Mr. T to vintage Back To The Future designs -- and if he still can't find what he's looking for, he can send in a picture of his own and have it made into wearable art." ~ Martha Stewart
We got watches from the Fossil outlet in Grove City, PA for 49.99 each, and wil be getting their names engraved on the back of it... it's a great idea, personalized to each guy and something they can actually use!
My FI is bouncing around between ideas. He thought of hats for each of their favorite sports teams, along with toiletry bags. He also was looking for small gifts on thinkgeek.com (perfect man-gift site). When our friends got married a couple of years ago, they gave trophies from things remembered to the groomsmen. They were all engraved with a something unique for each of the groomsmen, my FI's says "Most drunken baths".
@bostonbridey: Did you end up getting the USB drives yet? My fiance still can't decide!
We got engraved pocket watches!
They are gorgeous and it's one of those things that guys would never buy for themselves.
I think the pics are going to be priceless!
How cool, I think KellyV did that too.
Right now we are debating between sunglass from SGH, or a whiskey gift basket with a 200ml bottle of JW Blue, whiskey stones for Sur la and a monogrammed whiskey glass..
My FI is getting all his groomsmen personalized Chucks (Converse) with their nicknames on it. They're going to wear it to the wedding, but it will be a cool keepsake afterwards!
What we got our groomsman is def an original idea... They all hunt.. so we got them the soft camo gun cases. The tuxes in our wedding are going to have camo vests...so it g oes with our theme... but we got the initials embroidered in bright orange.. they are awesome!!!
Ww got our groomsmen leather toiletry travel bags and we are throwing a cigar in too.

My fiance is one of the last of a big group of friends to get married. All of his friends have been in each others weddings, so they are all pretty much pros by now
. Needless to say they all have received plenty of the traditional grooms gifts over the years: cufflinks, flasks, etc. They are also all now in their early thirties so getting an engraved beer mug, isn't really age appropriate. Anyone have any ideas for gifts for our professional (haha) groomsmen?
Your help is much appreciated!!
