I sent my invitations about three weeks ago, and I’ve gotten a third back (yay!). However, I’ve heard from a few people that they sent them back as soon as they got the invitations, and they haven’t gotten here yet. They’re coming from the next town over, and two other states (500 miles in either direction from us) – so it’s not one post office messing up. I know that I’m missing at least four, but these are just people I’m in regular contact with; I don’t know who else may have sent them and they’re missing..
Does anyone have any ideas of what to do at this point? Can I talk to the post office? A lot of my responses came without return addresses, so the guests won’t even know that I didn’t get their responses. Of course I’ll follow up with the missing ones after the RSVP date, but for the time being, what do I do??

@abbie017: I had a similar problem where the invites didn’t get there, I was going to claim but didn’t get round to it. I checked everyone i’d sent invites to for those I hadn’t had back and sent more out with a slightly extended RSVP date.

we had several people tell us they mailed their rsvp’s back to us but it turned out they had lied in order to save face. some of the people who did that were surprising and definately not the type we would have expected to do that, but i guess they said that because they thought it was more polite than to admit that they hadnt sent in their rsvp.

@CatyLady: The invitations got there — it’s the response cards I didn’t get back!
@bummbledbee: I could see lying if the date had passed, or if I had asked them. But they all volunteered the information, and my RSVP date is not for another 2 weeks… So frustrating!

@abbie017: Yes I noticed, I was just relating it to my situation where I had to ring round everybody and agreeing how unreliable the post office are now

Talking to the post office in my opinion is pretty much useless. We sent a package during Christmas time priority mail and it took over 2 weeks to get there. We tried working with the post office because we thought that it had gotten lost and they told us there was nothing that they could do for us. Since we didn’t get tracking info put on it it couldn’t be tracked. Apparently they had no way of tracking it either. I’m sure they have no way of tracking regular mail either. I’d say wait until a few days before the RSVP date and give them a call? I don’t see a problem with that.

The post office is a mess. My sister sent us a gift card for our engagement that we never got, I found out when she asked why I hadn’t thanked her yet lol Anyways about the rsvps I also had a friend Facebook message me saying “yay our RSVP is on its way” and I never got it. I’ve gone to the post office about this and they never do anything. I even filed a complaint once and never heard back. Just wait til your RSVP date and start calling around
