Hey bees! I need your help! I have been trying to sort out a color combo and theme for my wedding so I can start actually planning it but I have hit a road block very quickly. I’m afraid that what I’m coming up with will be silly and cheesy. So I’m going to describe some of the ideas I have gathered and I would love your honest feedback.
A little background info: my fiancé just moved from the UK to the US to be with me and we have a limited budget, so I am trying to diy as muh as possible.
It all started with my fiance said he wanted a red tie. Easy. Can do. But being a May wedding, I was having a hard time coming up with a good second color. I was thinking a lift Tiffany’s blue, but that’s tricky to match, especially when I want his sister overseas to be able find a dress to match my bridesmaids dresses here in the US. She can’t exactly come here for a fitting so I’m having my maids buy knee length dresses in te same color. A friend suggested navy blue, but I’m afraid the combo will turn too 4th of July-esque.
Then after spending too much time on Pinterest than I’d like to admit, an idea started forming. I do like red and navy together but to insure it doesnt become too patriotic, I want to take it in more the travel direction. It all started with the cupcakes. I want to make them with my BMs simple white but decorate half with US flags and half with UK flags. Then upon searching travel themes I came up with a few more things. Hanging a us flag and a Union Jack side by side behind the head table. Having centerpieces made of bouquets of white paper flowers and world map flowers (remember small budget and flowers are EXPENSIVE!) surrounded by votives. A globe with nearly transparent paint on it besides the word love. An open cutesy suitcase for cards. Things like that…
Is this cute…. Or tacky? I have spent too much time on Pinterest to know what’s good and bad any more! Thanks ladies!
