I had to tell someone besides my SO, mom and sister! (No one in real life because they might wonder about my financial situation and suff.)

I just checked my student loans page and it officially says Paid in FULL!

I may not have the ring yet, Frownbut I'm jumping for joy for getting rid of that HUGE chain!Laughing

JEALOUS!  I work full time and attend law school at night.  I am so not happy with my student loan debt and so not looking forward to paying that bill in 2011.  :-(  I am paying my undergrad loans instead of deferring them, but I see myself paying a student loan bill for the next 40 years or so.  LOL!!!

Thanks guys! I'm glad y'all are okay with me shouting it out here. Maybe one day it'll be a story with ring attached.LOL

Ms.Snuggie- I feel you. I thought I was going to die with that thing hanging out my head! I'm just waiting to see how my FICO looks after this! I'm just glad they are gone.  I definately plan to start a fund for my kids to go to college one day so they don't have any. It may not be a ton in the future, but any little bit helps!

Oh my gosh Congratulations!!!!! I long for that day to come, I quite possibly have over $300k in debt (in mortgage, and student loans) that will probably be paid off in 50 million years.  I didn't know that student loans affected your credit score. My loan consultant said it didn't.

@msmamabear:SOOOOOOOOOOOO JEALOUS!! i have tried to run from mine for years (my private loan has morphed into twice the amount originally paid and then i sort of tried to forget about it).. yeah stupid i know.  I have about 100k in student loans (faint) and well i expect them to be paid off around the time it's time for the kids to go to college maybe even later unless i win the lottery or something (which is impossible because i don't gamble :D). i need to make a plan and focus on it.  how did you pay yours off, did you go with a plan or something like that?

Crebre80- I came into some money recently and it was enough to pay it off (my credit card too) as well as put a down payment of $30K on a house if I can find a foreclosed one. I should be able to, houses are cheap here. I MAY be able to buy one outright, if I can find one cheap enough. I've seen a few 3 bd/2 1/2 bath for about $29,9 up to $40K, so we will see. That is a good way to come into the new year!

    Thanks lovesthebear! (I love a bear too.LOL)

@msmama: omg how friggin' awesome would it be to own the house outright?! then when you get married you could use it as a rental property!!! and buying it now gets you the tax credit!!! how awesome?! lol!! here's to wishing I came into some money :D... the closest i'll get into coming into some is my parents will probably give us a few thousand to get married with... hopefully i'll be able to match the amounts they gave to my stepsister's, but i doubt it.. i'm not the type to call and ask :D

    Thanks rugem, serya and spaniel!

crebre80- Yep, I'm trying to own it outright. I dont want to have to owe anyone! Foreclosures are cheap here, so I'm looking hard. I'm hoping to find somehting by the time my lease is up in July. I did put some away for a wedding. Hopefully he'll ask me one day so I can use it.Undecided

Hopefully I won't be the woman with money for a wedding who never gets to use it. (yeah, sorta down today, but trying to perk up.)

@MSMAMA: i was totally down yesterday ((HUGS)) no worries... to use the tax credit you have to have closed on the house by april 30th and move in by june 30th (just in case you're seriously considering something)... usually there is a clause in your apt contract where if you purchase a house you can be let out of the lease...trust me i'm sure it's coming soon for you, everything else is in order :D and you have the money to pay for it (grin grin grin)...

Congratulations! I have been so wary of building up student loans throughout the years. My parents were really bad with money, and as a result I am obsessive about not being in debt. I have taken a few out, but always paid them off by the next semester. It always feels like a deep breath each time I write out the check! :) I am glad you got to feel the same satisfaction!

newbeicici- Yes, a 70 ton weight! It fel like they were waiting for my first born.LOL

JessicaAlecia- That satisfation is like OMG. Just glad to not have to worry about them anymore. That's also another reason I want to start a college savings for my kids. Apparently, it will only be a regular savings since most places require a kid's name on the account, which is kinda unfair.... Maybe ppl want to get started so early saving, the kid isn't even born.LOL

Congrats!  I know exactly what a relief that feels like, and just wait until next month when you realize you don't get a bill and have extra money to put elsewhere!

My FI and I agreed that we wouldn't get engaged until all our debt was paid off, so we could get our lives started off in the clear.  We're lucky that we were able to get that done and get engaged this year!
