Personally, I’m trying to get all the major stuff booked as early as possible. We’re only having a thirteen month engagement but we’ve already booked our venue and photographer, and I’m having a coworker with a floral design business do my flowers. Once we get the music figured out, I’ll be relieved.

I know I’m going to have plenty of things to keep me busy as the wedding gets closer.

Depending on their rules, you could leave a small deposit like $100 and that way if you cancel on them, you will only lose that.

I’ve had over a 2 year engagement and I say book the big things as early as you can so you get the vendors you want! Do research but I’ll tell you, in the first 3 months of our engagement, I had majority of our vendors booked and we got our first choice in all of them.
