Don’t have much useful to say, just wanted to let you know that I’m thinking of you and hoping for the best!

I had a blighted ovum that was diagnosed at 8 weeks, and when I was reading stuff about that, it seems like there were many stories of people getting bad news earlier on (6 weeks/5 weeks), but going on to have healthy pregnancies.

I don’t even know why they do scans this early….especially if you’re not 100% certain on how far along you are. I’ve seen WAY too many women devestated because nothing was seen on a 5-6 week ultrasound….and then it turns out a number of weeks later every thing is fine!

Please don’t stress. 5 weeks is way too early to see anything. *hugs*

They saw a sac with my son at 5 weeks.  I think we saw the heartbeat at 8.

5 weeks is SUPER early to be doing a scan – even if you’re actually exactly 5 weeks based on ovulation, they may or may not be able to see the gestational sac, but if you’re not basing due date on ovulation, you could easily be a little behind that estimation and not be able to see anything yet.  I wouldn’t worry just yet.

My thoughts are with you and I am hoping for the best for you. Did they see a yolk sac?

I had a blighted ovum that was diagnosed at 8 weeks. They could not see anything (not even a yolk sac) and my gestational sac looked like 5 weeks and measured over 25mm. It was very difficult to go through. But some people go on to have healthy pregnancies. I was reading online that there are people who don’t see anything until 8 weeks or so.

Five weeks is super early. Fingers crossed that the little bean is just hiding! I’ve read lots of stories of women who had a five week ultrasound show nothing and then went on to have healthy babies. Also, are you sure about when you ovulated? Could you be more like 4+5 or 4+6? When will you have a follow up?

phoebephoebo:  I agree that five weeks is early.  Try not to get too worried just yet.  Fingers crossed you’ll see something soon.  Do you have another scan booked?

It is possible your dates aren’t right or that your fibroid is obscuring the view.  It looked like a teeny bean.  I was five weeks and a couple days I think.  Every day makes a difference at that point because cell growth is so rapid…
