Hey guys! I’m noticing a kind of odd trend with a few of my married friends on fb. It appears that everyone is rushing to change their Instagram names but leave their fb maiden names up for quite some time before it changes. Is this because new names via fb take a few days to process?

I have had about 7 of my friends get married this year, and all of them changed their facebook names on their wedding day or the day after. I have never seen anyone wait a long while. Maybe the longest I saw was after the honeymoon.

FB name changes are instant, but maybe theyre just not worried about FB or don’t want to change it or aren’t changing their name. I haven’t noticed this in my circle. As for Instagram very few people use their first and last name so I don’t see a change at all.

Call me crazy, but I don’t think changing my instagram name would really be a priority on my wedding day.

I have changed my name on bills, my bank account, drivers licence, I’ll be changing it on my passport when we come back from honeymoon (I have to wait til then because the ticket is booked under my maiden name) but I have both names on Facebook. Mrs. MaidenName Daly.

I am kniwn by my maiden name, so I will change it, but also leave the maiden name in parenthesis so people can still find me.

I won’t be changing my name period, but a friend of mine is waiting until her name change is legal to change it on Facebook.

My guess would be because IG usernames are limited – so people probably want to make sure they lock in their new names on IG right away before someone else signs up and gets the username they wanted – particularly in the case of someone who has a common first name and common new last name. Facebook names are not unique and therefore there isn’t as much of a rush to change. (I work in social media, not just social media obsessed, haha)

I haven’t noticed this, most people on my fb have chaged their names right away, or put both maiden and new last name on.

I changed my fb name in the taxi on the way to getting ready in case someone tagged me during the day 🙂 The change was instant, which surprised me. Then I turned my phone off all day.
