I’m thinking about planning a destination wedding from NY to Louisiana, and possibly having a wedding weekend at the Nottoway Estate. (No more than 75 or 80 people, since everyone would be traveling from NY and NJ) From what I have seen in photos, and via email communication, it seems wonderful, but I have some concerns. If we decide to book it, my fiance and I probably will not be able to visit before the wedding–so we only have pictures to go on. Have any of the Louisiana bee’s been to a wedding here, and have any advice? Pro’s, con’s–any input is welcome! Thank you.

- Wedding: April 2015 - Family Farm
vintagebride143: I went to a wedding there a few years ago. It was lovely. Your wedding is October of 2015? October is not a bad month in LA but it can still be very warm. Just make sure everyone is prepared for the warm weather.
The only thing is that there is ZERO to do in White Castle, LA and it’s about an hour from NOLA. There are a few plantations closer to wither Baton Rouge or NOLA. All are gorgeous. Louisiana is a very beautiful place.

Olgarie: thank you for your response! Since making this thread my fiancé and I decided to have our wedding here in NY–and already booked our venue. Still, LA is on my bucket list for travel destinations.

I wonder if they’re giving discounts since the Ani DiFranco fiasco
