artdeco:  I’m getting married in month in a cool climate.  My girls are wearing long, chiffon gowns and I’m getting them pashminas.

artdeco:  Mine have long dresses from Alfred Sing and I got them fur collars. If its really cold then I told them they can wear a grey or black coat.

It really is no different for the bridesmaids than it is for wedding guests in the winter. If it’s cold and they are outside, they can wear a coat over their dress. If it’s not freezing, just chilly, then can wear a wrap or a sweater.

If you want them to all wear the same thing for photos, then you should provide it.

BurlapnLace: Did you KNOW it was going to be cold? I live in Texas- the weather fluctuates..it could be 40 or it could be 90. I don’t want to wait till the last minute to buy them something like this, but I also don’t want to spend money on something they won’t need.

artdeco:  The ones I have been a part of, we all wore wraps or coats while the photographer was setting up shots, then his assistant collected them just before he took the pics for the shots of us in just the dress.

The brides all purchased pashminas, or in one case short jackets for the shots she wanted with those.

artdeco:  Both, I’m sure.  The outside pics probably with and inside without.  As for myself, I don’t know what to wear with my dress!

texaslemon:  It’s guarantee to at least be chilly no doubt where I live, especially for the dresses they’re wearing.  There’s a great shop in Manhattan I can get beautiful wraps for $5, so it’s not a great investment.  Just something to cover their shoulders.  My friend got marriend in Nov. 2 years ago and we took a lot of outdoor pics and were freezing in NYC.

I think bridesmaids in cardigans look adorable. So that could always be an option.

Plus it is something they can easily wear again.

artdeco:  Mine are faux fur as well. I got them at the end of last season at Northern Reflections of all places. I was in there with my mom and snagged them for 5 bucks each. I got my faux fur bolero from Laura on an end of season sale as well.

artdeco:  I’ve been in 2 fall weddings (one in October and one in November). The one in October was actually colder than the one in November lol. It was around 5 degrees celcius at most at the one in October and we had photos taken at a beach. It was cold. We had wraps but they didn’t really do much. We toughed it out for the photos and then went for coffee at Tim Hortons (I’m Canadian). For the November wedding the bride had gorgeous wraps made for us. She had one made for herself as well in a different material. It ended up being a gorgeous day but the wraps were appreciated when the sun went down. She also had Alfred Sung dresses lol.
