So as of December last year, I received a beautiful engagement ring. Now I set my promise ring in my jewelery box, or wear it on my right ring finger. I’m looking for creative suggestions as to what I can do with it, whether it’s changing the shape, passing it on, etc.! It still holds a special place in my heart so I’m honestly not sure IF I want to do anything with it, BUT, either way…
I thought I’d start this thread for ladies looking for what to do with their own Promise Rings once they’ve become engaged!
Here is my own below: it is white gold with a princess-cut pink tourmaline- my birthstone- with two CZs on each side… It looks purple but it was dark where we were!

I’ve kept the first ring Mr.ND gave me displayed on the shelf where I put all of my jewelry at night. I like to have it for my stand-in ring for times my e-ring is at the jewelers or I don’t want to wear it on a trip, etc. A few other ideas could be:
Take some of the stones and have them worked into a necklace design. I wear my mom’s diamond in a necklace she gave me.
Keep it stored safely away and give it to your future children/special niece, etc, either as a special gift or a purity ring (if y’all do that).
Wear it as a RHR on your walk down the aisle, and pass it along to other family members/future kiddos/etc to incorporate into their big day as a new tradition.
Hope you found one of those helpful/fun 🙂

maybe you could wear it on or as a necklace or put it in a locket or something?
Mine looks kinda like an engagement ring, but really really tiny diamond, not sure what to do with it, haven’t worn it in a while.

@indibee: I have worn it so far in place of my actual engagement ring at work. My job is very physical & my stone stands up on prongs, whereas the promise ring is somewhat of a bezel set & is more resistant. 🙂

Mine is going to be worn as part of my wedding set! I’m going to get an “official” wedding band as well, because I keep wearing my promise ring (channel set diamond/sapphire band) to work because my job would put my prong-set engagement ring in a lot more danger.
Here’s a pic of my rings together:)

When Darling Husband proposed to me, he gave me a necklace chain to wear my promise ring on and that is what I do:)

Mine isn’t a promise ring, it’s a ring that he gave me for our 2 yr anniversary, but I’ll be including it in my wedding set like a PP is doing as well. On days I don’t want to do that, I may wear it on my left hand, and I have worn it on a chain before. So I’m sure it will float among these 3 options for me. 🙂

Great thread! I am still thinking about this as well. My promise ring is a 0.26ct solitaire so I am thinking of making it into a solitaire pendant so that I can wear it everyday as well. It is the ring my SO proposed with (wanted me to pick my own ring but didn’t want to propose empty handed) so is very special to me and I would like to be able to wear it all the time as well.

I don’t have one, so I didn’t vote. But I love the idea of turning it into a pendant or wearing it on a chain. My friend who has one wears it as her ring when she can’t wear her wedding set the rest of the time it is her right hand ring.

I would have it sized to fit your right hand and wear it there. It still is special, so why not wear it daily!

I still wear my “promise ring” like I always have on my right hand ring finger. I plan to continue to wear it even after we’re married! My engagement ring was picked, in part, because it “matched” the promise ring. 🙂
