- Wedding: July 2010
Due to the sad sad situation right now involving the oil spill and the ecological disaster on the gulf coast, (my sister and MIl to be, retired marine biologist gave their opinions) we have decided to change date, place, and of course, venues.
I am now an ALABAMA riverfront bride folks! And I am so blessed to have the most amazing sister in the world! We were having a cry-fest on friday evening and saturday morning, over this horrible situation in the gulf, when my sister said she’d made a decision (this was after my tossing out ideas of T and I just eloping at some exotic island destination and then having a later reception) and that she and my bil wanted to have us have our wedding and reception at their home!
Her home (freaking gorgeous) is riverfront, directly on the TN river, has gorgeous gardens and two story boat dock, and just even completed a large swimming pool and patio area this spring. It’s perfect! She’s even having the colored filters placed in the pool to reflect our wedding colors.
She has two very talented friendors who are caterers and a florist, so that’s already covered now. I do have to find a photographer (maybe mine I had already lined up could come?), and entertainment for the ceremony and reception. It’s the most elegant space I could imagine and it’s free! We’ll be actually saving $ not having to pay for the church or the reception venue site fee so that is great! We also will be having our own bartender (another friendor) and we can save more too by buying our own alcohol also!
Luckily, T and I are out only 400$ in downpayments so far, and might be able to get that deposit refunded since we’re so far out, and also I am upset about my gorgeous seashell bouquet and bout I had made. It was almost 400. Gorgeous. Not sure what to do with it. Now mind you, there are tons of freshwater mussels where she lives, and there are shells all over near her dock, but we’re in north alabama. What to do about the bouquet? Sell it? Use it? We will be headed to Key West for part of our honeymoon btw! (St. Lucia will be next winter!)
Anyhow, this does open up an interesting opportunity for us now. We can take a honeymoon AFTER the wedding now! and yes, we’re going to go somewhere tropical! Still we’re taking my son with us, and we’re making it a family trip, and having the couples’ trip next winter to St. Lucia. But we’re probably going to go to Orlando for a few days now followed up by immediately flying down to Key West for some florribbean rest and relaxation..so yay for that!
So here I am…if I can do it, anybody can…a 90 day bride!
I think I can..I think I can..I think I can..(little engine that could)!
