-my nice, heavy everyday silverwear (Oneida Icarus) and pots/pans (Calphalon Tri-Ply Stainless)
-knife block (Kapoosh! -google it, lol)
-Kate Spade candlesticks and vase (Library collection, I think)
-Penzey's Spices "Spicy Wedding" set with s&p grinders
I finally tried to use my Cusinart MiniPrep to make Christmas cookies and I couldn't get it to work! Of course, this was after I took it out of the packing and moved our entire kitchen to a new home. :(
We're registry twins! My favorites:
-KitchenAid 610 Pro. I bake all the time now - it's easy to just throw together some cookies, or get a batch of bread dough rising
-Le Creuset 6 qt and 3 qt - I like the little one b/c it's the perfect size for a batch of rice
-Red KitchenAid wide 2-slot toaster. It looks adorably retro, and the bagel setting and frozen setting are excellent!
-Fiesta striped placemats and blue napkins - they're so bright and festive! We use them everyday
-Red wine glasses by Cellar from Macy's - we also registered for crystal, so we use these casually - they have those enormous bowls and feel kind of extravagant, but they weren't super-expensive, so no worries if one breaks
@JeniRae: Someone gave us "Spicy Wedding," too! No s&p grinders in ours, but the spices are awesome!
I haven't registered yet but I absolutely can't wait to register for the KitchenAid Artisan Mixer!!! It will be my number one item if I get it :-)
Our best wedding gift was a $500 GC to the Ritz. :) But it wasn't exactly on our registry - just a big suprise!
As far as registry items go, we LOVE our towels and rugs (Hotel collection!)
Uhm, lisalulu, you clearly cook WAY more than I ever will :)
I would LOVE that wedding gift, august15!
I registered at Macys, Williams-Sonoma, and Bed Bath and Beyond. It was great. I also got the Kapoosh Knife Block. That thing is great! Such a great thing, it's worth way mooore than the price. Hopefully some Bees will get it as a shower present.
I do cook a lot. Right now, my business is really slow with the holidays so I am using the extra time to practice my cooking techniques. But I have to say, with this great stuff, it's easier to cook than before!
I also got the kitchenaid stand mixer. What a big guy that is! I used it to make Christmas cookies this year. It was ALOT easier.
Thanks for the tips Lisalulu, you registered at all the places that I was thinking of. How far in advance did you register?
My stand mixer
My espresso maker
interestingly enough, my CAKE STAND! It's so pretty i have it sitting on my counter and i put things under the glass dome all the time.
Also my creamer/sugar glass jars from williams-sonoma. Every day I use them!
My WS spatula. It's red and it works for EVERYTHING. it is my favorite little kitchen buddy
4" mattress topper in memory foam. From Walmart. It's like sleeping on a cloud. Amazing
600 thread count sheets. Seriously i don't know how i slept on crappy 200 thread count cotton sheets in collegs. These things are luxurious
I'm surprised by how much I love my 10 piece pyrex set with lids.
My all-clad cookware set (I think I got the 9 piece, but could use more. This is a good start though)
Kitchenaid!
New baking pans to replace the grotty old ones my mom got when she got married.
And we are planning on buying a bigger bed soon. So we registered for bigger sheets so we won't have to go drop an extra $100 on sheets when we finally buy the bed.
@ErinMarguerite! yes! Pyrex! register for this! We got 3 sets, I think? The glass baking/pie pans/bowls, and 2 sets of the storage bowls! I love them!
I actually got pretty much nothing on my registry but what we did ask for (gift cards for home depot)n have already been used and we are now painting
This is useful, I am going to 'clean out' our registries soon since we literally registered for everything we could think of at the time. We really just want cash more than anything, but there are some things on the registry I will buy for us if we don't receive them. Like the large 4 quart fry pan from williams Sonoma - right now I have to make dinner in batches or transfer from the frying pan to the pot if you have to add any liquids to what you've pan fried. We really need a nice, large multipurpose pan.
I also will buy us a crockpot if we don't receive it, although that's usually one of the first registry items to go. Really want to start using one. I would also buy us the standing mixer if not received. Glassware i'm honestly not that concerned about since every time we have guests over I feel like I'm buying a whole new set anyway. It breaks and chips and we don't have enough room to keep a lot of it around.
My favorites from our registry are our coffeemaker and our towels! We were still using towels from when we moved out of our parents places to go to college, so this was a huge upgrade!
Surprisingly, i use my cake stand with cover all the time. I thought it's just sit on the counter and gather dust, but I'm always putting treats in there for the kids and hubby. It's nicer than the cookie jar because it's see through and they know what's in there.
I was hesitant to register for my ice cream maker because I was worried we wouldn't use it much, but I LOVE it! We use it all the time. Homemade ice cream is so much more interesting and wonderful than store-bought! We have this one and it works perfectly. http://www.amazon.com/Cuisinart-ICE-30BC-Indulgence-2-Quart-Automatic/dp/B0006ONQOC/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=home-garden&qid=1262285028&sr=8-1
@lisalulu - i registered for global knives, too! i SO hope someone gets them for us! wondering, though... what do you sharpen yours with? i have yet to pick out a sharpener...
I want to hear more of these!
We aren't married yet but from what we've received, I love our Dyson and our set of Martha Stewart mixing bowls!
I find it troubling how much joy I get from some of the household items we've received! But, I'm so happy to find this post so I can spread my joy!!!
1. Silverware: Monique Lhuillier For Royal Doulton "A'telier" 5 Piece Place Setting. It's a bit pricey at $55 per setting but it's so worth it. You can find them at Bloomingdales and maybe Macy's. It's elegant enough for fine china but classic enough to use everyday, it has a good weight and feel, has a little curve that feels great in your hand, it's on the shiny side but magically resists fingeprints - I have no idea how! I love these!
2. Set of 3 Stainless Steel Colanders from Williams-Sonoma (Item #: 93-8314528). I wouldn't have thought a colander would get me excited, but these are great. I have always had just a large colander, but I love having the three different sizes. It makes prep so much easier. They're beautiful and sturdy and clean-up so easily. Best of all they're nesting so they take up very little space.
3. All of the Goldtouch bakewear from Williams-Sonoma. It bakes everything evenly, doesn't burn, doesn't stick - it makes me appear to be much more skilled in the kitchen than I really am!
4. Barre Serving Bowl (Medium) from Simon Pearce. I registered for this because I thought it was beatiful but I've ended up using it all of the time. I use it as a centerpiece or to serve in. I love it.
I know this post is SUPER old but I needed to suscribe to it so I could know what to look out for when we finalize our registry!
Haha, I remember reading this thread back in the day! So far, we've used our pans, dishes, silverware and mixing bowls the most. I <3 our mixing bowls so very, very much :).
We didn't get many registry items (mostly just gift cards that we have yet to spend) but my favorites that we use the most are:
*everyday white Corelle dishes (LOVE these dishes)
*white Martha Stewart cereal bowls
*2 large pretty wood serving bowls
- crockpot
- 800 thread count sheets (soooooo wonderful! we actually registered for cheaper but then got a target gift card and we saw their premium sheets and went with them)
- Nice Dishes (we went with Mikasa's Italian Countryside and they are so much nicer than our college dishes and they will probably hold up better)
- Nice Towels
- Tea Kettle (we ended up getting it for Christmas but I still use it sooooo much, even DH is picking up drinking tea)
- Good Knives
