I had posted a thread on kite settings and the polls indicated that half of you Bee’s like them and half don’t…lol: Here is the link to the thread: http://boards.weddingbee.com/topic/kite-settings
Well I personally like them! I went to a jeweler yesterday just to see if my head/prongs can be turned to get the “kite look” and he said that he could do it for $150. (My 2 rings are soulderd together and he would have to unsolder them and then resoulder and replate). He also said that he thought it would look better on my finger set that way because my fingers are kinna long and skinny and it would be more finger coverage. My current princess cut diamond is kinda elongated anyway and he said that turning it would actually make my stone look “fatter” and bigger..*snikers*. Who would not want that?
Anyway, What do you Bee’s think? Here is my current set:
Picture I took just playing with the stone orientation next to ring finger…sorry so blurry!

I love the way your rings look together. I’m not of any help though because I’m indecisive, I think it’s gorgeous either way lol.

I prefer your setting the way it is.
Just learned that was called a kite setting so thats for that!

@Swizzle: Eh well…there are many “names” for it I guess…I have heard of it called “Star” setting, North South East West setting, compass setting, and diagonal setting..lol….I just prefer the terms “star” or “kite” setting.

I prefer your ring as is, but it will be lovely either way. Do what makes you happy!

I vote that you keep it the way it is and get an amethyst halo! I know that wasn’t an option and probably not helpful though 😛

I really like kite settings. I think the kite setting would look great with your wedding ring due to the way the diamonds in your band are set. HOWEVER, I think it would also cover up too much of your band. So I say keep it as is.

I feel like it might look cool for a while, but you might tire of it. For me, the classics always hold their appeal longer.

@JessMorgan777: I think it looks stunning kite set but what matters is that you won’t get bored.

I think it is awesome the way it is! The kite setting is unique and fun though, so I don’t think it would be a bad choice if you value those qualities over “classic/timeless.” It is really up to you (sorry if that is no help!)

I usually like all things traditional but I really like this idea! I think it would complement your wedding band as well. Also, if you don’t like in say 5 years, it is not too expensive to have the prongs rotated again.
I am currently in love with this ring that has the kite prongs as well

@starfish695: That is what I was thinking…If I just get sick of it, I can always change it back…..Love that ring BTW!!!

@Tigrrlily04: haha well I asked if the Bee’s if a halo would look good and I ended up with an overwhelming number of “No!’s” lol
