Ok, neither of us are church goers in a really big way. So who do I ask to marry us? I know that anyone can get certified with an internet church to preform weddings but I don’t even know who I would ask to do that. We really don’t know anyone who would even come close to being right for the job.
Should I just go looking for someone on the street? Try and make friends at the senior center? Hang around by the docks looking for a sea captain?

Haha, well, we’re kind of in the same boat, and we’re looking into the Celebrant Institute, as was recommended to me on here. Check out their website to see if you like the vibe:

You are so funny, your sea captin idea made me laugh:). We are going the officiant route since we are getting married outdoors. You can just look some up on-line, I looked on weddingwire.com in their vendors area for reviews.

You could see if one of your parents wants to do it. My FI’s dad has married all of his children so far so it was completely natural for us to have him do it.

I was thinking maybe a judge. How would I go about finding one that might be willing to do it, without going to court, that is….
Maybe I could brow beat one of the judges who is running for office in Nov to do it. “marry us your you won’t get my vote”

Check with your county office to see if any judges are willing to be a justice of the peace at your wedding. Or if they know of anyone who could offer their services for the day.

HA HA… The sea captain.
We are having a friend marry us. They are getting ordained at http://www.universallifechurch.com.
Do you have a good family friend like an uncle or aunt who is not really an uncle or an aunt who you absolutely love?
If not the place where you are getting married usually has a list of recommended officiants. There will usually be a secular option.

I looked at the local chamber of commerce’s website and they had a link to pastors and JPs that can before services. Also, go check out a bridal show.
