My tech said anything above 3mm was bad.  Mine was 1.5mm

Yeah, that’s considered normal.

A bit more on the accuracy of the test and “average” measurements on Wikipedia here.

@Mrs.M.2.B:  Yeah that is normal. You want to be under 3. I had 1 mm and it was the lowest I saw anywhere. So really 1-2.5 I’d say totally in clear. Over 2.5 I’d start to irrationally worry because that is me. (but most would still be fine)

@Mrs.M.2.B:  My doc said 2.5 was max. Mine was 1.5 at 12 weeks.

Yep that’s a normal reading. I also heard over 3mm was “bad” and under 1 is “bad” but rarely heard of. I believe mine was around 2mm they said. They had a hard time getting the measurement because she refused to move her hand from her face, but subsequent ultrasounds showed she was fine 🙂

A lot of this also depends on size of baby. If your dr said it looks good you should believe them.

I’ve never heard of it being too low…? Mine was .9-1.1 and the DR said it was fantastic.

mine was 1.6 and it was considered normal. Like PP have stated, it’s when it gets over 3 that it’s concerning.

A coworker’s baby had a measurement over 3mm and he does not have DS. Really hate those tests. All they do is stress out an already stressed pregnant woman, who almost always go on to give birth to a baby without DS.
