I went to France for a short exchange in elementary school. Some of my classmates’ host families took them to a nude-optional beach (so, they could wear bathing suits, but most of the people on the beach were completely naked). I am so glad my host family realized how inappropriate this was for an 11-year old American!!

I’ve done a lot of strange things but for some reason nude beaches make me uncomfortable. My answer is a resounding no and I also have no interest in changing that.

I’ve been to sex clubs and that makes sense to me. Everyone walking around naked in a non-sexual way with annoying sand everywhere makes no sense to me. And sounds unhygienic. Beach chairs? Sand in your butt? No, thanks.

I mean a truely nudist beach not that you have gone topless on a normal beach because who hasn’t done that.  -Can’t say I’ve ever done that, or ever really seen others doing that at a normal beach either.  But I’m in the US.

I’ve not been to a beach but have been to co-ed spas which are nude.

@MrsPanda99:  what exactly is a sex club?

@mallo:  I love nude beaches. I go to one in my city as often as I can in the summer, and I usually at least go topless at clothing optional beaches in Europe. I don’t really see why it would be a big deal. It’s rare to have anyone approach you because you’re nude.

Most people at nude beaches don’t have stellar bodies, and more often than not, they’re older. In Europe, it’s not a big deal at all. The reason why I often keep my bottoms on is because there are tons of kids, but their parents/other Europeans seem to have no issue with nudity.

@mallo:  It definitely does not happen here.  At a normal public beach you would be cited for public indecency and the hoards of soccer moms would come at you too!  Of course I know we do have nudist specific beaches, but they aren’t nearly as common.  Remember, we were founded the the puritans!

Not a nude beach, but the resort we stayed at in Mexico topless was OK and a lot of people including myself participated.

Only by accident hah. My friend and I were walking along the shore in La Jolla and walked too far and stumbled upon Black’s Beach.

I’m not comfortable with full nudity at a public place, either mine or someone else. I would love to sunbathe topless, though ! If it was the only way for me to experience it, I would go. I would only hope nudists not to approach me and ask me to walk around naked. I get it’s a lifestyle for them, but it’s not mine and I’m not interested in it. I would only like to experience feeling the sun on my bare boobs and butt, but I would not walk around and I would probably cover myself if someone walked by.

@mallo:  Well, I’ve never gone topless, and I think that many other women probably haven’t either. 🙂

I have, however, been to a beach that is clothing optional:  Orient Beach in St. Martin.  It was one of the most beautiful beaches I’ve ever visited. Unfortunately, I had to avert my eyes when two fully nude people — one man and one woman — were strolling by as we were there. Most people were wearing swim suits, however.

Yes, although I stayed clothed. On a few occasions I would go topless, but not often.

There was a nude beach in the FL town I lived in during college. I actually didn’t know about it, my mom told me. My mom and her BF are sort of nutty, and they used to come into town all the time just to go to the nude beach as opposed to where they lived. I went a couple of times (with just my mom) but I stayed clothed.

Most everyone at the beach seems to know each other, and have become friends. Becuase it’s FL, it’s a lot of people who have vacation homes and many of them are professionals or from other areas who come there specifically for the nude beach. However, when you first come, people definitely keep their distance until they know you’re not a creeper.

They have pretty strict unwritten rules about no cameras or funny business. Basically it’s a regualr beach, and then you walk really far down and you encounter a “warning nude sunbathing” sign. For the most part it wouldn’t really be that acceptable at *this* beach for regular people to just plop down still wearing swimwear and spend the day. However, becuase I was always with my mom (who was part of the crowd) no one ever batted an eye at me being there.

I will say, 99% of all the people at the nude beach are people you would NOT want to see naked. 😉 Most of them are older (I’m talking like senior citizens). The strangest thing for me would be laying in a beach chair and they just walk right up to chat. I’d open my eyes and be staring at a wrinkly 65 year old penis….lol. They always used to joke with me and say that I was wearing too many clothes (in a bikini…haha). I’m super fair skin, and my response was always that the parts of me that see the sun on a daily basis burn so I’d hate to see what the parts that don’t see the sun would look like exposed.
