All the nurses that I work with wear Dansko which they swear by. I just wear Asics, but mine are slowly falling apart.

Soonerbee07:  Most people wear their athletic shoes far too long. If you are on your feet only 60 minutes per day, they need to be replaced every 3 months. So, working a full shift several times a week, it is no wonder that they break down.

Soonerbee07:  so no surprise that they are broken down after 4 months of wear. They simply will not last as long as we think. I always wore Saucony because they fit me the best when I worked in ER, but I did alternate two pair daily, not weekly and replace them every 3 months or sometimes sooner.

I didn’t find Dansko comfortable for me.

Soonerbee07:  I wore Dansko when I worked in the ER, my Nikes at the school.

3 of my friends are nurses and they all swear by the stapled clog Danskos.  I am a teacher and I wear Danskos as well but I have a few from their other lines, not just the stapled clogs.

My sister in law is a nurse and she uses maching band shoes like Super Drillmasters or Dinkle. She says she busted her Asics right before a shift, didn’t have time to get new shoes, and just threw on her old marching band shoes and realized they were the most comfortable thing ever.

I also wear Asics, but a coworker mentioned getting these:

Which I really think are cute, and they look supportive. I think I’ll go shopping around for some new shoes and see what I come up with!

Soonerbee07:  I saw them for a pretty decent price on Zappos. I may just have to break down and buy a pair.

Soonerbee07:  I’m a chef, but I believe we have similar shoe needs. I wear professional crocs. They are awesome for me. They are a little bit wide, which is great for my feet after an entire shift. They are also sturdy enough to protect my feet from anything that may happen to them. Non slip and easy to clean too. I wear them with the heel strap flipped forwards and I like that I can just slip them off and on easily.

I replace them every 6 months or so. They aren’t very expensive, maybe like $50.

I wear black, but they come in white as well.

the nurses I work with wear Danskos, Birkenstocks or Crocs…I’ve been wearing the same pair of shoes from my CNA class…white Sketchers. I’ve been wearing the same pair of shoes for 7 months…they are falling a part and stink…Not sure what I’m going to make the switch to but I know that good feet health is important but I do have a bit of sticker shock.

Soonerbee07:  Yeah my coworker got a different style instead so looks like they’re on my list of things to buy!

I can’t live without my Danskos.  I work in the OR and just wear the basic leather ones in black….I think they are part of the Professional series.  I’m on my 2nd pair…the first pair lasted for almost 7 years.   Totally worth the money!!
