Last night I woke up to find my husband who has been sick with a very impressive temperature respirating at a rate of 25-30 time a minute. I woke him up and made him take tylenol to help break the fever, and he was sweating like mad for about an hour when it finally broke.
He’s drank probably two cups of water in the last two days, won’t eat or drink anything today. Do I keep trying to get him to drink or just let him be? My mom’s an RT and always told us “if you don’t get it this way, you’ll be getting it through an IV”. I don’t want to be dramatic but he’s a large athletic guy and I know he needs way more water than that.
What to do?

I would say if he’s not drinking water and not getting any better take him to the doctor.

First, do not ask strangers on the internet for medical advice.
Second-Go to a reputable source–http://www.healthlinkbc.ca/kb/content/symptom/fevr4.html
Do the symptom checker- also review the information on Home treatment.

Thanks guys. His fever has been between 101-103 when he has it.

@symphony: You guys definitely sound like it’s time to go to the doctor. Dehydration is very serious.

I’d call an advice nurse – either at your local urgent care or ER (or even a call in to his doctor).
Let them know his symptoms and see what they advise.
I try to force down sports drinks, in timed like that – but it’s hard to do.
Hang in there!

I agree in getting him to a doctor, or at least one of those minute clinics in pharmacies if you can’t get an immediate appointment.
