Soooo, I’m applying to the nursing program for fall. It’s kind a long shot because I’m not done with my last science class that I need but I figured I would try anyone. We have to write a 300 word essay right after we take the entrance test, but I am unable to prepare ahead of time. I’m pretty sure that the essay is a nursing interest essay about why we want to enter the program and what we could add to the program etc. Can anyone give me ideas on what I should put in there?? It’s only 300 words so I want to make sure I put in something that will make me stand out…I just don’t know what..

@Ninteenthchance: Shoot for a specific story that reveals your characteristics that would make you a good nurse. Also make sure you have at least once sentence about why THIS particular nursing program interests you or is a good fit for you.
E.g., I never wanted to be a nurse until my mom was diagnosed with breast cancer. While the doctors did a fantastic job with her diagnosis and treatment, it was the nurses who were there with us every single day, who provided the comfort and kindness that we sorely needed. Once she came home from the hospital, I was with her every day–I learned how to administer her injections and spoke with our at-home nurse about how I could help her in a caring but also medically effective capacity. Since School X emphasizes in-hospital training through its ABD program, I know that I will learn even more about nursing and caring on the job.
Something like that.
