[FYI- I am planning to call my doc before I do anything. But just wondering if someone here has some insight...]

So, I went off of the NuvaRing because my prescription ran out before I could get to my new doctor (we moved away from the one who prescribed it). I've been off of it for a month and would like to restart it now that I've had my pelvic/pap and got a new prescription. Tomorrow marks a month since I took it out (so 3 weeks since the end of my last withdraw period) but I haven't had a period yet (99% sure I'm not prego). Should I put it back in now or wait til after I have a period (I know it can take a while to get the hormones out and get it back)?

The literature from the company says when you're starting it for the first time to wait til day 5 of your period to put the ring in. I assume since I've been off it a month it's like I'm starting over?

I put mine in the first day I started bleeding on my period and was fine.  The doctors told me that starting any form of hormonal BC is most effective the first day of your period.

Thanks MissAsB! I'm hoping it comes any day now so I can get back on it! (just condoms is a little nerve-wracking for me!)

I agree with MissAsB.  You should be fine to put it in as you are planning.  My doctor (and the info included in the box) says the ring is safe to use even if you do get your period on the first day or not - you just have to watch out in case it comes out if you use tampons.  You period might just be a little off simply because you haven't been on the hormones for the past month.

I would put it back in immediately but that is just me!

Just make sure you use extra protection for the first 7 days!

Come back and let us know what the doc said - I'm interested!

Oh and I forgot that my other doc said that I could start it whenever I wanted just use backup protection for 7 days like FMM said.  I just waited until I got my period to start on it though.
