I just had to share this story with you; it is almost too gross to be true. I am a teacher in an old school building that has many problems. So when I saw bird droppings on the gym floor last week, I wasn’t too surprised.
Fast forward to today. My school is a voting station (Canadian election is today) and Elections Canada was using the gym. MAGGOTS started falling from the ceiling on people!! Ewwww! Apparently the pigeons that have been living in the roof and crapping all over the place died and rotted in the ventilation system.
There’s no real point to this story…just wanted to give you your daily gross quota! Hopefully my fellow Canadian bees voted for someone who will put some money into our school system lol 🙂

That’s so sad about the pigeons 🙁

I hope no one looked up with their mouth open. hehe.
Seriously though. That is really disgusting! How many pigeons? How big of a gym? Obviously not enough for a smell.

@tiny tuna: You’re so cute for saying that 🙂
I know…ick! Thank goodness they’ve closed the gym down due to a “ventilation issue”.

@Tunacupcakes: No, there wasn’t a smell. It’s like a regular school gym, pretty big. I don’t know how many pigeons – we never saw them as they were way up in the roof somewhere. But we saw their by-products 🙁

Oh gross. I voted in a church that was pleasantly maggot-free.
Hope none of them dropped into the ballot boxes or else someone’s in for a nasty surprise at counting time :O

@linguo42: Oh so true! Never thought of that 🙁

@MademoiselleL: I posted this a while back, but a few weeks ago I pulled an empty Wal-Mart sack out from under the sink, and something splashed on my face -it smelled terrible! I washed my face and hands, and searched everywhere for the smell – I cleaned out the entire sink area, and found NOTHING! Anyway, a few hours later I was getting ready for bed, and while brushing my teeth, I noticed a MAGGOT CRAWLING in my HAIR! Emotionally scarred now.

@MademoiselleL: I have a pet pigeon and I used to be a feral pigeon rescuer.
Hate to hear about any animals dying, but at the same time as much as I dislike maggots (they’re so creepy!!) they are good for eating up anything dead so they’ll clean things up if the area is not reachable, unless it just dries up and mumifies.
Hope I’m not scaring anyone lol.
