http://thestir.cafemom.com/baby/127198/many_of_us_regret_the
I saw this and was immediately reminded of a friend of a friend's choice in baby name...
Jrayke pronounced like Drake... All I can think is J-rake.. LOL...
Know anyone with impossible baby names?
@Kym080412: I actually had major regret after naming our youngest daughter. We actually went back to the public record dept. and had it changed shortly after she was born. She was Lauren and was changed to Leah.
I knew someone who named their child ( girl) Ellichea (pronounced Ah-leesh-ah
That is the only one I can think of off the top of my head
I know a couple who used "Danger" as the middle name for their son. So many people tried to talk them out of it that the father wrote an open letter on FB describing why he thought it was a good idea. I still disagree.
@Zusie: I will totally be guilty of this... lol My brother was going to name his youngest Joey Danger, but when he was born it didn't fit him... I will be using it... It's a middle name, I never use mine. LOL
@drakela2: I heard a story on Kidd Kraddick like that... sigh... people are nuts
I have friends who named their child Talon. His full initials spell TRAP and it's on purpose.
@Zusie: Eh, I think crazy, fun middle names are fine.
@Zusie: all i could think about after i read your post was "DAAAANGER - Watch yo self Show me whatcha workin with..." lol
I love my kids name but frustrated because everyone else does too my first daughters was #5 and my youngest was #2 on the list of SS popular names....
Oh and I wish we would have named our daugheter Ellie instead of Elizabeth no one calls her elizabeth and I hate the name liz...
Know someone who named her daughter Syria - pronounced Sarah. . . no one says it that way. . .
Not quite the same but I have always loved 2 names (a boy and a girl name) that I wanted to use and recently saw them BOTH on the top 10 most hated baby names list haha made me rethink. . .
@Zusie: I would be pissed if my parents gave me the middle name Danger... So many Austin Power jokes :/ Poor kid!
Did anyone click on the link about the people naming the kid Adolf Hitler? Sort of a side track but it was in the article, lol. How horrible is that.
Intriguing. My husband's name is actually not what his parents originally named him. I can't remember the story exactly, but I think it was that his mom named him after his dad but with a different middle name. They split up later, so she first changed his first name (the part that was the same as his father's name), then later she changed his first name to his middle name, and gave him a completely new middle name. I guess the entire time, his family had been calling him by a nickname derived from his original middle name, so it all worked out. I think this all happened while he was still a baby or toddler.
I don't worry so much about that scenario happening to me, but I do worry about accidentally picking something that turns out to be really popular. :/
The worst I have heard of is someone naming their child Maximum Wild West.
@alh5051: That's way worse than Danger being my middle name!
I can totally see this with how some people choose names these days.
Thankfully I've never, for a second, regretted DS's name...then again I thought more about how it would be to have it as a name (as a child AND grown) then I did on just how "I" liked it.
We've thought through this LO's name like that too... I mean it's there's forever right.. better put some real thought to it. lol
I know some one that named their daugher.... Imagine Imma
their last name is Diamond.
Imagine Imma Diamond
100% serious
and Riddick. from Chronicles of Riddick.
I'm actually surprised that there isn't a blurb in that article about anyone who chose an "-ayden" name. Not that those names are bad, but there are a lot of them and they have gotten really popular so I would have assumed that someone who thought it was unique might regret it now that there are 5 kids in every class with that name.
@drakela2: My best friend knows someone named that too (same spelling!)
LOL, I went to HS with a girl named Carissa Dick... go on, say it out loud to yourself...
Also, my aunt is a medical transcriptionst and she's seen some strange names, my favorite was Ima Wooley-Lamb
@burris4: I'm internet offended at your dislike for my name.
No, I'm kidding. Just still in WB drama mode from other posts this afternoon :P
@LMD84: It has definitely been one of those days on here, hasn't it? Oh well, I actually love that your heart beats for love, although EVERY TIME I see it I think "My heart beats to move blood around my body" Romantic notion, huh?
@burris4: My heart is a multi-tasker, the other half just didn't make for a pretty avatar.
I had an employee named Richard Minni. He was older and went by Dick. The first time I heard them page "Dick Minni" I almost choked to death in my office. Plus he was really short and shaved his head bald. It was terrible.
I know a man named Dick Handy.
A lot time ago I had a job working telephone customer service and spoke with an asian man named Dong-Suk.
@Aure: My husband works with a woman that has this name. He handles employee time off requests, so he has seen it come up in his records several times. Whether or not that was her given name or she changed it to that I don't know, but it's what's on her official file.
Ahahahaha.
May I present to you.... New Hampshire Representative Dick Swett.
No seriously. There were giant billboards on the highway that said VOTE DICK SWETT.
@MrsPanda- Ellie is a nickname for Elizabeth, as is Liz, Betty, and Beth. :) It's one of the reasons I like the name!
I have an old fashioned name that is always misspelled and hard to nickname.
OMG I forgot about 2 little girls that go to my neices school.
their twins and named Chevy and Chevelle Id seriously change my name as soon as I turned 18! UGH lol
Ive also heard of Dixie and Heaven.
So many I can't remember! But the one that I can remember at the moment is YourHyness. Yep! I am not lying. I hear so many ridiculous names during Sunday football -D'Brickashaw?!
Well we are both teachers and as a teacher....
1) It will make it EXTREMELY difficult to name our own children because some of the names we've liked... well let's just say we've had some kiddos in class that were real doozies and we will not be naming our child that name anymore haha
2) I really wish people would name their children "normal" names or at least names that are easy to pronounce and not have 5000 spellings of Amy or Sarah or whatever and then get pissed at me when I mispronounce or misspell their little darling's name.
That's my 2 cents haha
