I’m heading to my PhD co-supervisors house (but she is really truly my supervisor, as my actual main supervisor is totally absent and in upper administration and woudn’t notice if I died, except if he needed me to craft another lecture or conference talk for him) for a Holiday party next Friday. She is a great supervisor, and friend, and she’s also just a good person. She came to the wedding, we talk all the time, she’s cool shit. I may idealize her a little bit too much as I think she’s super smart – but hey, don’t most grad students idealize their supervisors?
Anyway, I want to get her an awesome hostess gift / holiday gift wrapped into one. Her and her partner are super into like outdoorsy shit, they’re pretty much the defintion of sporty. However, my boss also seems like a foodie (leaning towards more of the organic type, gourmet cook), and also is really into tea and coffee and I know she only drinks coffee from a french press. I know she also likes red wine, but I’ve already bought her a $70 bottle of red wine once when she leant me her super-tough camping backpack to take to Africa, before I got married.
Anyone have any ideas for a good hostess gift / xmas gift, for people of the above description? I think I’d have a limit of $70, and I’d like to make it really “nice” and sort of homey and Martha Stewart-y if possible.
