Those are some tough requirements....it's hard to find something "longish" but not too long or short. I'm tall and busty, too...i think this may work? plus--it's not dowdy!
How about this? http://www.jcrew.com/AST/Browse/WomenBrowse/Women_Shop_By_Category/dresses/patternsprints/PRDOVR~17535/17535.jsp I love the neckline on it and it looks long enough. I do NOT love that the model is wearing socks with heels... is this a new trend? Can we kill it?
This one is a little less dressy, but would be more comfy for getting down on the floor:
wine colored, modest with sleeves? Maybe too snug for your ladies
These are all 41" from hollow to hem. Is red ok? i know for indian stuff, red is the bride's color
I like this one, too, but it's hit or miss--the bodice doesn't look long enough maybe?
Maybe...you could be a little busty but it is 44" long! http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3028734/0~2376776~2374327~2374331~6020250?mediumthumbnail=Y&origin=category&searchtype=&pbo=6020250&P=5
I have a couple that might work for you.

I find if you look up work dresses, you will get the coverage you are looking for.
Can you do leggings like dark blue or brown or even black on those? Maybe then you wouldn't be showing your knees but still look cute?
TP: Thanks for the suggestions! Can't do leggings/tights because henna gets painted on your legs and arms.
EJS: GREAT suggestions -- thanks so much! I'm going to look into these, and also your suggestions reminded me to check Nordstrom! (We don't have a brick and mortar Nordstrom, so I always forget about it!)
CorgiTales: Great suggestions as well! Love them, thanks!
Oooo i hope you find something--they have a great return and exchange policy. I actually found this dress http://shop.nordstrom.com/S/3028728?Category=&Search=True&SearchType=keywordsearch&keyword=ruffle+wrap+dress+in+All+Categories&origin=searchresults for myself while looking for you, so uh, thanks for making me spend my money today
The three dresses are from igigi.com and the last one is spiegel.com.
The igigi dresses fit for large chest so the line should still be long enough for you Hot Child. I have a 31 inch inseam and am 5'6 and I usually get them taken up so they go above my knees.

Sorry, there are no users yet.
I need a dress and none of my closet (or my typical tastes) are going to suffice for this event. In a few weeks, I am going to a henna party. Not a henna-themed party, but an actual traditional henna party for my Pakistani friend who just got married.
Many people will be dressed traditionally, but she stressed that this is not a requirement for people not of her religion, heritage, etc. This is a Muslim event so I do need to dress conservatively.
So these are the requirements for the dress:
-cannot be black or white
-no cleavage (this is particulary tough for me as I am large-chested and mostly everything creates cleavage)
-dresses have to go to your knee (I am 5'8" and a 34 inch inseam, so a lot of stuff is shorter than this on me)
-has to be appropriate for this type of event. I'm going to be sitting on floor possibly, getting henna done, etc. So a bubble-hemmed cocktail dress would look sort of out of place
The below is the type of thing I was thinking...but this dress is way too short for this event.
So if anyone's looking to kill some time today, enlighten me!
