I would probably wait a little while. Sometimes things happen early in a pregnancy and I wouldn't want to have sent something that makes them sad whenever they see it.
I agree with MissAsB - Maybe for now you can just send her a card and wait until things are futher along before you get a gift.
I'm with MissAsB. As nice a gesture as it is, giaving a gift right now might end up causing some grief if something goes wrong.
I agree...maybe just a card
or you could also give them like a gift card to the restarant. Since you don't knwo anything about the baby yet, it can be more of like a congratulations gift for them! Just a little something to enjoy?
that's a good idea. I so wanted to buy a bunch of cute baby stuff from Etsy! But, you're all right. May be a bit too early at this point.
I was in your boat a few weeks ago and that weekend something really unfortunate happened...yeah you guessed it. Just give it some time so she can get to a safer zone.
I think the idea of a gift card is nice, but maybe a restaurant gift card isn't the best idea. My mom got us a bunch of restuarant gift cards right after we announced our pregnancy, and we haven't used any yet because my morning sickness has been so bad. Maybe a gift card for a little mom-to-be pampering would be nice, like to get her nails done or a relaxing spa treatment (my doctor said no massages in the first trimester, though).
I am also going to disagree and say if there is a specific baby gift you have in mind, go for it now. :) If you just want to buy cute baby stuff, maybe wait until they're farther along; but if you have your eyes set on a onsie with their favorite sports team, or a stuffed animal that would go perfect with what they're planning for the nursery, I think it would be ok to get that now.
How about waiting and then getting her a gift certificate to a maternity clothing store, like this? I'd imagine that'll be a huge expense, so she'd appreciate any help with buying cute clothes as she gets bigger.
They make really cute mom-to be cards. I would have loved to have gotten one when I was pregnant. she probably isn't feeling too great. This is the worst time for morning sickness so it might cheer her up a bit.
Good idea on a spa treatment!

One of my best friends just told me she and her husband are expecting their first baby! She's about 8 weeks along. I want to send her a gift; what would be appropriate at this point? A book about pregnancy (boring), a onesie (too soon?).... I haven't been to their new house, so I'm not sure what color schemes they have going on, and ovbiously they don't know the sex yet so it would have to be unisex.
Sorry this is off topic, but she is the first of our friends to get pregnant and so I am very new at all this and didn't want to sign up for a pregnancy board or anything as I am not pregnant nor expecting to be any time soon!
Any suggestions would be great! If you have kids, what was something you would have wanted to get or did get that was awesome?
