Hey all! Almost a year ago when I got married, I lost about 30 pounds, and so I had a lot of my clothes taken in. One dress in particular was a size 12 and I had it taken in to what I imagine was more like a size 8. I'm not sure how many actual inches it was taken in - she just pinned it and then altered it.

Well, I probably shouldn't have done that, because I gained all the weight back. Now the dress doesn't fit but it most likely would if I had never touched it! Ironic, I know. I have an event coming up that I would like to wear the dress to and I was hoping I could get it let back out to it's original state. However, I looked at the inside and there doesn't appear to be hardly any material to let out on the seams! Of course, I know absolutely nothing about sewing or alterations so it may just be how it appears to me. I'm just not sure if maybe the alterations lady cut some of the material off? Is that typical?

Anyway, I just don't want to go to a different alterations place (I don't live in the same place I did when I got it done the first time) and have to have them tell me I am too fat and there's nothing to be done - that would be embarrassing! So what do you all think - is it possible?

Usually when things are taken in like that, they do remove most of the extra material. It can likely be taken out a little bit, but nothing as much as it was taken in, sorry!

@thewheelsonthebus: Oh, man, that really sucks! But I'm glad you told me so at least I know and don't have to be embarrassed at the alterations place!
