I have ordered from asos (love!) and modcloth with success but the unpredictable shipping and duties stress me out… Are there any Canadian friendly websites you order from? I’m looking for cute dresses to wear for both day and night on our upcoming wedding week in the Dominican. Anything I should check out?

I’ve bought tons from beyond the rack, but sometimes it can take awhile to ship but ive never had a problem with sizes and it fitting.

I’m not much of an online shopper, but I have heard decent things about forever21.com and (or just go to the store if your near one). Last I checked they do have a Canadian option on the website .
Last year I found 5 dresses for my trip to the Dominican at Fairweather for $10.00 each around Christmas time. I got two for day wear and three for night time! Not sure if they have online shopping though…

@mu_t: Victorias Secret always has cute beachy dresses. JCrew is always easy to deal with too and they have decent shipping rates to Canada.

Wow, your question made me realize how many US stores I order from as opposed to Canadian ones.
I haven’t tried it yet, but my friend orders a lot of things from shopbop.com. They have free shipping to Canada (though not including customs/duties). Some of their items are pretty expensive, but they also have a lot of cute dresses in the $20-$100 range.
It’s not Canadian, but when I ordered two dresses off shopruche.com (similar in style to modcloth), I paid $7.99 for the very basic shipping, and the package was left in my mailbox without requiring any further fees.
I have also ordered from Forever 21’s Canada site. As per their reputation, the items are cheap but will not last forever. And just doing a quick search now, the Gap Canada site is advertising free shipping on purchases over $50.
Good luck with your dress search!

@mu_t: I’m do my shopping online almost exclusively.
Shopbop, Revolve Clothing, and JCrew are my favourite. You can return JCrew items to the store, but Shopbop returns need to be mailed back.
I don’t know what price levels you’ve looking at, but I find that the Holt’s actually has cheaper prices than the total you’d pay ordering the same item from Saks/Nordies or even Shopbop.

wow didn’t see all these responses! thanks guys. i will try shopbop. i do love to shop online for vic secret, particularly bathing suits because the options are better but i’ve had some issues with having to pay duties. forever 21 isn’t my fave because i find everything is sooooooooooo short. i seriously just love asos & wish i didn’t have to pay the duties. also i once purchased a bunch of stuff and the fit was all wrong but i was too lazy to return it so i just ate a couple hundred of dollars worth of stuff and donated it haha.
i’ll try beyond the rack & shopbop!

boohoo.com is kind of like Asos and they have good priced dresses, tons of them. Some are kind of tacky but I’ve found some really nice ones. I think they have free shipping to Canada over $25 too, and no surprise taxes or fees!

@rubytuesday: awesome, thank you, never heard of them!

Venus – its from the US, but they charge the duties prior to shipping, so nothing is ever due at the door.
I tend to do more shopping in person (I’m 6ft1 with a 38 inch inseam and stupidly long arms. I have to try everything on.) I do a US outlet trip at least 3x per year. I do have some tried and true shops at home that I can buy online from, but they all cater to tall women.
