I am not enjoying my current work situation anymore. For the type of work it is I think I get good benefits, they put money into a SEP IRA for me annually, and my pay is competitive. I am currently in school for a degree in the field I work. I was looking at positions at local hospitals and none list their benefits or compensation, etc. I have never actively sought out a job before (usually they ask me!) so is this the norm? Do you interview and then ask about benefits/pay? Do they offer that information up? Am I able to find out beforehand or is that a professional faux pas?
I guess my fear is that if I interview at a ton of places before knowing the pay rate and I decide not to leave my currenty job my boss (who is affiliated with many local hospitals) may find out before I’ve actually decided if it makes sense to ultimately leave and be upset. I am their only employee so it will be a huge adjustment for them if I move on but I’m just not happy.
Can anyone help explain this whole thing to me?
