Bees, i’m having a hard time this morning…it seems like this summer we’re hearing more and more stories about children forgotten in car seats. I heard the heartbreaking account of a mother on the radio this morning…five years ago, she recieved a call at work from her babysitter, wondering where her child was. Panicked, the mother ran out to the parking lot…only to discover that she had forgotten to drop her baby off and had proceeded to do a 7 hour day at work, the baby strapped in his seat in the parking lot the whole time. Her child was dead.
I always thought “how could someone be so irresponsible” or “those parents are willingly murdering their children”…for some reason, this woman’s account really shook me. There have been times that I’ve run errands or been on the way to work, and by body was on autopilot, I had no conscious memory of how I got there. This is terrifying.
Do you any of you know someone that this has happened to, or heard an accound that shook you? I’m just having a hard time getting it out of my mind.
