Or, where can I find a good place for design tips (a forum or likewise...NOT thenest however, that place makes me nervous)

Anyway, specifically, FI and I are closing on our first place the first week of Nov! We're so excited, as we've quite outgrown our current apartment. However, since we're buying a place and planning a wedding, our "decorating" funds are nonexsistent. Luckily, we have a lot of furniture...but most of it is handmedowns and mismatched.

But, how do we decorate or choose a style with so many competeing pieces? Wood finishes are different, lines are different, styles are different etc. For example: we have a chocolate brown leather modern lined sofa and recliner, (the only pieces we picked out!) our coffee table and endtables are decoish metal with glass tops, that we painted a latte brown. Then we have a handmedown TV armoire that has a very natural wood finish (pardon me I don't know the exact one) and huge. And M just won an oakfinished wall clock. Where do we go from here? (Also, I would perhaps refinish all these competing finishes, but I don't have the time or space to do so!
