No. I like the show and it’s just entertainment. TV  loves wacky story lines.

@lolita39:  I always thought it was weird!!! I never knew the whole background but I figured out that barbara jean was “the other woman”. I feel bad for her too but I also admire her character because she really seems like a strong woman and a cornerstone of her family. I always liked that it was not a “neat” show. Teen pregnancy, teen rebellion, divorce, cheating, and lots of bits thrown in there. It’s life, not a neat cookie cutter family. And no one is overly good looking or stereotypical.

I used to watch that show.  If I remember correctly there was a bit of feeling bad for her in the early episodes but after a while it turned into a standard “everyone likes eachother and gets in wacky situations” sitcom, people who should hate eachother are magically best friends.

@lolita39:  The plot line is a little over the top, but I always found it to be one of the better sitcoms of the 2000s. Pretty much every character is hilarious in their own way. I just recently saw the one where Barbara Jean and Reba go clubbing together (“Two Girl Rule” lol) to get back at Brock (I think that’s why?) – it was a good one.

I usually avoid watching it, as I find it annoying.

@lolita39:   ‘Reba’ is SO much like my real life. My dad left my mom for the receptionist, they got married, and she & my mom get along REALLY well. My mom has struggled financially since the divorce (20ish years ago). Luckily, my dad didnt knock up his current wife. (Side note- he did knock up a differnent mistress before he met my step mom, while married to my mom, and i have 2 felon half brothers. gross situation).

ANYWAYS I have always found Reba entertaining, especially because I could relate. It’s real life. And it helps to find ways to laugh at some of the struggles in our own lives while watching witty actors go through them too.

@lolita39:  my mom is a freaking saint thats for sure. I’m just proud of her for filing for divorce before my dad could get to it. There were times i remember when i was little where my mom drove past my step moms apartment (when my parents were still married). I dont know if she was driving by on purpose, but my dad had a not so common vehicle, and my little brother saw it, and yelled ‘theres daddys car!’ Best bet, my mom pulled a U-turn, started banging on doors til she found him and they had a huge fight with me & my little brother right there in the parking lot.

My mom never got into it directly with my stepmom as far as i know. She went off on my dad a few times for sure lol They co-parented better than any other parents i’ve ever heard of though. And my stepmom was a part of me & my brothers lives. So my mom made nice, and now that I’m planning my wedding, they’re getting together & discussing details and all this stuff. Its kinda weird, but I dont remember much of life before my stepmom, so i’m used to it. My mom & dad still butt heads sometimes, but now that theres no child support involved, they dont have to have nearly as much communication or discussions over serious matters.

@lolita39:  I am pretty weird when it comes to cheating…I hate how television makes cheating glamours or okay. Reba shows the pain of the victim but the sucess of those responsible for all the frusteration. Once Upon a Time is an okay show and was ruined at the beginning when Prince Charming cheating on his current wife to be with Snow White. Of course I am in the minority with thinking this crap is unwatchable, oh well

I have actually never watched it but I have always liked Reba herself (loved her music growing). I know many people that loved the show.

Didn’t her daugther end up pregnant on the show? Or am I confusing this with another show?

@lolita39:  My husband and I refuse to watch anything that doesn’t live up to our morals and surprisingly we have a TON of options. I firmily believe that what you surround yourself with does or could define you. I don’t think watching a show about cheating would MAKE you cheat but it could begin to change your views on a situation. Maybe someone doesn’t want to cheat but then finds a partner they could picture having an affair with. Well, the person may stop to think that their life would be ruined but then again…they saw enough things that may convince them that their life would be BETTER.

It is glamours to cheat but not to be cheated on…
