Eating and drinking noises really gross me out.
I have a coworker who slurps, smacks his lips, and makes ALL sorts of noises when he eats.
I cannot have team lunches with him because it makes me want to vomit.
hahaha. My FI had an employee that used to do this. He did a super loud SLUUUUURP & then the Ahhhhhhh. It is SO frustrating. Especially if you're concentrating on something and the only noise you here is:
"sluuuurrrrrrrrp"
*gulp*
"aahhhhhhh"
I HATE gulping/swallowing sounds. Even when I make the sounds it bugs me. I always try to swallow quietly because it bothers me so much.
@nihilist: ooh! When you catch yourself slurping! haha. I'm always like "eeeew, why did I just do that!?"
Ugh I can't be around people who are noisy eaters or drinkers. It drives me bonkers and makes me want to duct tape their mouths shut until they learn how to be less obnoxious.
Haha I don't know what it is but if FI is too close to me when he's chewing gum (he's quitting smoking so he's chewing nicotine gum all the time) it drives me nuts. He hates when people are stirring their coffee and he hears the spoon clinking against the mug. I think that's one of his biggest pet peeves.
@sit1010: Agh... Gum chewing!
One of my coworkers chews gum incessantly and I'm on the phone with him a lot.
We're chatting about work and all I keep hearing is the *chew chew chew, smack smack smack* of the gum.
Drives me NUTS!
Honestly, I don't think there is anything on earth that annoys me more then that!
I share an office with a noisy drinker.
I'd take slurping sounds over the farts and belches the guy behind me releases *gags*
I can't stound of a metal spoon being stirred in a coffee cup. Drives me nuts.
@firsttimemom: I'm used to belches and farts. I have a 9 yr old son who thinks belches are the coolest *rolls eyes* and my daughter... she breathes and has gas. And bless her heart, she has absolutely no semblance of shame, so she just lets it rip. No matter where we are. You get used to it after a while ;]
OH MY GOD I CAN'T STAND THAT!!!!! okay, that was a little much but really, it bothers me that much. My mom does that and whenever she drinks her coffee, I have to leave haha.
I also can't stand when people drag their teeth on their fork every time they take a bite of food.... uuuugh.
I CAN'T STAND mouth sounds. I actually have those headphones that have rubber seals inside your ear to block them out at work. Whoever thought an open workspace was a good idea should be taken out back and shot.
It annoys me when it's something people are doing on purpose/intentionally/out of habit. Like the *slllluuuurrrrrrrrrrrppppppp* *gulp* *AHHHH* would make me absolutely insane! An accidental or random slurp would be ok but someone who does it all the time.....ahhh I'd have to wring their neck!
I HATE when people bite the fork when they eat. All you hear is teeth being dragged across metal, that cant feel good! Its like nails on a chalkboard for me, the worst!!
On another note I also hate when people drag their feet when they walk. Pick them up, its not that hard!
@Miss.E: Haha, those are my pet peeves too!! Thankfully I don't know anyone with a scraping teeth habit but some people I work with constantly drag their feet and it makes so much noise.
That is SO odd! It doesn't bother me, but it bothers DH. He absolutely HATES eating sounds. It grates his ears and het gets all frustrated. I always thought that was quirky.
I absolutly cannot handle it. FI and his mother both are the loudest eaters, i can say somthing to him but what am i supposed to say to his mom, "hey woman, stop smacking your lips"?
@mattsgirl813: My mom grew up on a farm for most of her young adult life and told us when we were children, "if you want to sound like an animal when you eat, you can go eat what they're eating with them." :( Thanks for the insecurities, mom lol.
@firsttimemom: ahaha that is too funny. my dad used to tell my sister something very similar.
@firsttimemom: That sux, but it's funny, because sometimes my DH glares at me If I don't realize I'm eating too loud. I will look back at him and "moo". But then I stop my smacking and swallowing so loud, or leave the room.
i hate annoying white noise - ive had people moved from outside my office because they sniff constantly or tap their pen when thinking and there was one woman who had the most annoying loud jingling bracelet that sounded like crashing cymbols to my ears
i can even hear ipod music 15ft away - people in my office know when im standing at my door looking around im looking for noise and i WILL tell people to turn it down or stop it - this is why i bake every single week for the people i work with (my new CEO has gained 8lbs this year), i know im annoying

when people make sipping sounds when they drink their coffee? My manager is such a noisy drinker. he'll make all these sipping sounds and then swishes it around in his mouth and he gulps it down with a loud swallowing sound, immediately followed by a very loud "ahhhhh" combined with an exhale...
Maybe I need to get ear plugs when he is around lol
