Forgive me for being a bit sappy ladies, but it’s a big deal to me. I’ve known since I was little that I wanted nothing more than to perform. I loved music, took up various instruments, studied voice. I worked hard to become a successful classical singer. I hit a lot of roadblocks like not being allowed to sing and minimal talking to save my vocal cords or risk surgery to being told over and over again in school that I would never be good enough. My course of study changed, but my dream didn’t. A couple months ago, I auditioned for my city’s symphony choir and tonight I feel like it was all worth it. I got to stand on stage at the Majestic Theatre and sing with our symphony. It was incredible. I will never forget this moment. I remember sitting in the audience when I was 7 or so and just imagining what it would be like and it’s finally happened. I’m not usually very emotional, but I’ve been nothing but happy tears all night. I can’t even begin to fully describe how much tonight meant to me.
