So, so sad. A similar thing happened in my community when I was in elementary school. It is devastating. Someone commented on another report of this story stating that this is a prime example of how our society teaches boys that they are entitled to girls. I could not agree more. This is just heartbreaking.

That’s evil. Whatever happened to going stab… err, STAG! WTF!

What a terrible reason for an innocent person to lose their life. Very sad. Poor kid is going to regret this bullshit.

Sweetescape1976:  OMG…I want to cry reading this. Now children aren’t even safe to turn someone down for prom without a psycho snapping?

bbbria:  What’s even worse or equally worse is that this kid didn’t have the foresight to think of the ramifications of his actions! I mean, it’s like he was blinded by complete rage. Terrible. I know teens aren’t known for thinking ahead but Jesus, how can you NOT give this type of thing some thought.

I feel bad for the parents on both sides having to deal with this now. Very sad.

playdohpants:  It was a “too soon” kind of play on words. Have you heard of the term “stag?” Means going solo? I think that’s the best way to go to events sometimes… Get there when you want to, stay or leave.

LilRhodyGem:  You’re right, but teenagers are notorious for being impulsive and irrational. We could sit here and speculate all day, but I guess we’ll never know what was going through this kid’s head or what really caused him to snap like that. I also feel horribly for both sets of parents.

I don’t know – bringing a knife to school sounds rather premeditated.

playdohpants:  Yeah, you’re right, but he may not have been considering the ramifications of his actions. Then again, maybe he’d planned this for months and knew exactly what he was setting himself up for. Who knows.

bbbria:  Yeah, who knows :-/. That’s the scariest part.

LilRhodyGem:  That’s a really screwed up joke. I’d edit it out.

This is my hometown, so it is just too close. I teach high school (in another town), and I just found it so hard to keep teaching as news reports came in. Those poor kids who came to school excited for prom.
