If so, give us the dirt! Here are mine:
I feel like there are many more that I'm forgetting. Here are some celebs that I haven't officially met, but ran into in person:
Oh, my friends and I also sat near Paris Hilton at a restaurant in NYC.
Do sports figures count? I worked for Nascar for a year, so i've met nearly all the drivers. lol
I live in a suburb right out of LA, so our city is constantly being used to film TV shows/movies. I can't say I've actually met the celebs, but here is a short list of things I've seen being filmed:
90201, Buffy, Bad Santa, Pirates of the Caribbean III, Medium, Not Another Teen Movie, She's All That, American Beauty, Reno 911, all those stupid MTV dating shows.
And the LA Galaxy use the field at my school to play on and I saw David Beckham at a water park this summer!!
@babyboo - I'd pee my pants if I saw Buffy being filmed. Total fangirl here.
Haha, about 75% of my friends went to the high school it was filmed at. My mom's best friend is a teacher and she worked there when it was filmed :)
I promise the school it is filmed at isn't nearly as nice as they make it look :p The front building is gorgeous, but the rest of the school is just average. It is the same school that 90201, Not Another Teen Movie, and She's All That was filmed at.
I've met quite a few prominent Canadian politicians.... not exactly celebrities, but oh well!
Yah, I'd die to see Buffy filmed. I still get a little sad when I remember it is off the air (um, as it has been for the past 7 years)...
Uh, I gave David Suzuki directions to the auditorium where he was supposed to have a speaking arrangement once, but I don't know if he even counts as a celebrity.
does House Minority leader John Boehner count? He was my representative growing up and spoke at our high school every year. Senior year I had to get his signature to prove I showed up for his speech for government class.
Courtney Love cut in front of my FI in line for the bathroom at a music video shoot.
Since I live in LA, we see celebrities all the time but I never speak to them. They have a right to privacy, though I certainly stalked David Duchovney a little after seeing him at a movie one Saturday afternoon.
@BrianneG: I see we are neighbors (live in Torrance!) so you've probably seen the same movies/shows filmed as me!
Ewan McGregor is the most important celeb I've ever met. I've also met some UK "tabloid" D-list celebs.
@BrianneG - Oh, I totally forgot that I met Courtney Love, too, back at Lollapalooza in 1994 or maybe 1995.
My friends and I were standing in the middle of the field, watching Smashing Pumpkins, when this trashed looking blonde stumbled by. My friend said "Look, that chick thinks she's Courtney Love." And then we were like "Holy crap that IS Courtney Love!"
We yelled "Hey, Courtney!" and she actually came over and talked to us for a few minutes. She was BOMBED, but actually pretty pleasant and friendly.
Oh, and I stood in front of Juliette Lewis at a Flaming Lips show a few years ago. My best friend was really drunk and kept 'accidentally' bumping into her.
I met Garth Brooks when I was little and he was still kind of small. He was in town for a conference and stayed at the hotel my dad worked at. That's all the sightings I've had personally, but I know Oprah and like 5 football players have a condo within 10 miles of me and there are several football players with homes not too far off. My FSIL knows most everyone in town, so she's probably seen quite a few celebrities.
I have a weakness for 1960s British musicians. :) I've met Paul McCartney, Davy Jones, and Peter Noone (of Herman's Hermits fame). Also met Rob Thomas of Matchbox 20 a few weeks ago. Also Conor Oberst of Bright Eyes, and all of Thriving Ivory. I stalk musicians, what can I say, hahaha.
I waited on Craig Sheffer (A River Runs Through It) waaaay back in the late 90's at a bar/restaurant when I lived in Atlanta. Imet Jamie Pressly there too.
I met Charles Barkley in the early 90's at the Spectrum when I was going back stage to meet...are you ready? The New Kids On the Block! (gasp!)
I met Jonathan Butler (singer/guitarist), Rick Braun (trumpet player) and Richard Elliot (saxaphonist). All smooth jazz. Love them to death.
I almost met Tony Danza...saw him. Never met him.
I met Colin Farrell in a bar in Philly.
And I think that is it...
I used to work in film and television, so lots! LOL!
I'm blanking. Days turn into nights into days again when you work in that industry! One famous person becomes another and at first it's all very glamorous and then you realize that without makeup and hair people, they all look just as ragged as the rest of us at 5am! LOL! I've seen some weird stuff, met some great people, met some not so great people. I don't miss it one bit though!
I've met former NFL player Rodney Harrison from the Patriots.... but that's about it!
I've met a lot of neat people :]
Actors: Scott Baio, Steven Speilberg, Zoe Saldana, Gerard Butler, Adam Beach, August Schellenberg, Tom Hanks, Michael Madsen.
Pro Skateboarders/bmx-ers/gymnasts: Igor Vihrov, Carly Patterson, Morgan White, Kerri Strug, Shannon Miller, The Hamm brothers, Neal Hendrix, Bucky Lasek, Tony Hawk, Mike "rooftop" Escamilla, Chad Kagy, etc.
And some handsome Nascar drivers :]
I grew up with and went to elementary through high school with the drummer in Plain White T's. Thats about where it ends though. I've had dreams I've met Matthew McCoughnahey
does that count?
FI works at the school where Shailene Woodley (Secret Life Star) was attending. I saw her at one of the football games.
I swear that as I was leaving the gym one evening, Jim Caveziel (spelling?) was walking out in front of me but I didn't say anything.
FI met Seth MacFarlane once which I think is SO cool!
Oh, and I've met and hung out with Willie G. Davidson, of Harley-Davidson, current VP of Styling. He is so nice and even remembered me when I ran into him again.
I've met Joe Lieberman, Eli Wiesel (not a celebrity so much as amazing and famous), David Sedaris, George Allen (VA politician). A few years ago the lead singer from one of my favorite bands skipped in front of me when I was waiting in line for a Roller Coaster. Oh, and last summer I was at a bar and looked over to see Johnny Fairplay from Survivor and that chick from America's Next Top Model who had the weird face fungus thing sitting right beside me.
I did an intership at Walt Disney World one summer in college. I met Britney Spears, Justin Timberlake, Johnny Depp, and the Dallas Cowboy cheerleaders. lol
Calista Flockhart (Ally McBeal) grew up in my hometown and went to the same elementary school I went to. lol Shes much older than me so I never attended at the same time as her but my music teacher had all her old sheet music, so that was pretty cool.
I also used to be a Blackjack Dealer, so I dealt to quite a few athletes and celebrities when they came to town. Also, I've met a ton of sports stars, because my mom is a super volunteer and worked on planning the Super Bowl, Special Olympics and NHL All Star Game when they came here. Here's some of my favorites, and the ones who were actually nice.
And Josh Harnett, Rachel Leigh Cook and George from Gray's Anatomy when to my high school
Also, just because it makes me SO ANGRY. My mom is a Hotel Manager, and Tool stayed at her hotel and SHE DIDN'T EVEN GET ME AN AUTOGRAPH. She checked them in and everything, knew they have been my favorite band since I was like, 12. I hated her for like a week.
@jspeby - Did you grown up in South Jersey? My friend went to high school with Calista Flockheart. Apparently, nobody liked her and people used to throw food at her in the cafeteria.
Mine aren't as exciting as the rest of yours, but I'll play anyway. :)
I never met him, but Elliott Gould (Ocean's 11, Ross & Monica's Dad on Friends) cursed me out on the phone once (I didn't know who he was at the time and let's just say it did not help the situation, haha). He has a bad temper and a filthy mouth when angry.
Another time I was coming out of a store on Walnut St. in Philly, and Arnold Schwarzenegger emerged out of a Range Rover parked right in front of me. Strangely, he did not seem as tall in person. And his skin looked like clay, like you could scoop it with your fingers.
Finally, I've met David Sedaris multiple times. He is my favorite author and I've been to his readings several times. The first time I met him I had just graduated college and couldn't get a job- he told me I was pretty and I should move to NYC the next day to be a publicist. He has written funny things in all my books and they are among my prized possessions. (I know, I'm a dork).
Only a couple. I met Nelly back in the day at a local mall. I also went to high school with the band Story of the Year. I met Laurell K Hamilton at a convention.
@danadelphia - I grew up in Norwich, NY. I believe she only went to elementary school in Norwich. But that's funny about the cafeteria. lol My elementary teachers just liked to show off old papers and projects of hers with her name on it.
I've met Mike Love from the Beach Boys and Max Weinberg from Late Night/Conan. Not exactly A list :)
I’ve met a fair amount of politicians, but not sure if they count as celebs. The only one I think would really count as a celeb would be former President Clinton. I’ve had lunch and dinner with him.
Other than that, my friend and I ran into John Mayer at a bar several years ago. It was a slow night, and we talked about music for a bit. He was actually very laid back and seemed very down to earth (this was obviously pre his latest weird magazine interviews/tirades!!)
We also met Kevin Dillon (from Entourage) – he was completely hammered but very, very friendly.
I've briefly met some hockey players, and some of the NE Patriots players (they used to train at the first college I went to), but honestly, I don't know who I met, I'm not into sports.
I’ve “run into” (like, within touching distance, but didn’t talk to them) Henry Winkler (at a dumpling house), Lara Flynn Boyle (really creepy looking, WAY too skinny), and Jennifer Lopez (amazingly beautiful IRL).
Heidi Montag's Dad was my ski coach in high school....his "character" on the Hills is not what he is like in real life. I guess like daughter like father.
I've seen Tony Parker before and I've seen Yolanda Adams.
Edit: I've actually meet them.
Last year I met Kim and Kris Kardashian! Kim wasnt as nice as I expected but Kris actually stopped and chatted with me!
Wow mine aren't nearly as exciting. I've also seen Tony Parker when I was out to lunch in San Antonio...I'm not a basketball fan at all, so it was really no big deal to me. I saw Tiffani Amber Thiessen in the airport when I landed in LA.
But I never spoke to or met them, just saw them.
I don't know if this counts but I met Coretta Scott King (Martin Luther King Jr's widow) in an Atlanta airport? She was really nice. :)
Bella
I have met Michael Phelps, Morgan Spurlock (Supersize Me), the band Lifehouse, the guys from Green Day, and Marilyn Manson.
LOL. Odd assortment.
I met the band Stroke 9. Pattie Labelle almost ran over me and my dad on a cart in the Houston Airport. My FI and I sat at the table next to Caroline Rhea.
Edit: When I was 5 or 6 I met Luciano Pavarotti
I did not meet him, but I know Pat Monahan's sister (lead singer of Train). I guess this doesn't technically count, especially since some of you guys have actually interacted with some pretty famous people, but I still think it's cool as I find them terribly catchy. ;)
