Keep it short. No one likes a long speech. Can you think of a funny but tame story to share? Maybe soemthing about how much she means to you with an example why. or soemthing about her personality qualities that make you love her so much (her quirkyness, her dry sense of humour, her ability to see the good in everyone and everything.

@tiffanyscanlan:  I think 2-3 minutes is good. By the 5 minute mark you are starting to lose people. Only the best toast masters can engage an entire audience for 5 minutes.

Good luck 🙂

@tiffanyscanlan:

Are you presenting the speech at her birthday party? Everyone likes humor, so I’d probably go that route as long as it’s clean!

@tiffanyscanlan:  Go for stories. They’re easier to tell and more fun to listen to. Tell one or two funny/sweet/embarassing stories about her, then conclude with what a wonderful friend she’s been. I think 3-5 minutes is ok.

Don’t make it *too* embarassing, and remember her parents (and perhaps other relatives) will be there so keep it clean.

You could do a fun speech where you included all the numbers leading to her current age.

One day, the two of us…etc
