LaPetiote:  I love this show!! Are you in the process of buying a house?? I watch it frequently. The basic idea is that there is a person/couple/family that are in the market for a house (or condo or whatever). The show follows them as they view three options. They go through each option and say what they like and do not like about each one. Then in the end, they tell which one they chose and they will show them moved in and they may tell what they’ve changed or updated about it since they moved in. The non-international one requires that you already be at a certain point in the house buying process. Basically, you have already bought the house, but not move in, at the time of filming. Then they have you view that one and two more that you may or may not have seen before. So really you aren’t deciding on camera like the show leads viewers to believe. I’m sure the international version is similar.

LaPetiote:  I say go for it! It’s not a show full of “reality” drama. It’s just a show of people trying to find their next home.

LaPetiote:  I like this show! Can’t speak for what all “actually” happens but what is seen in the show is that a person or a couple is shown 3-4 different houses in a different country. In their price range. And they have to decide which one they’re going to buy.

LaPetiote:  I loooove that show!  I love seeing the different types of housing in different countries, and how much things cost relative to different areas.

Ellie85:  You have blown my mind with this insider information, lol.  I had no idea that they had already chosen their house before filming.  Huh!

LaPetiote:  I looooove that show! It’s really fun, and the show seems pretty respectful of the participants. I haven’t seen any bickering couples or anyone shown in bad light in the international version.

i have a love/hate relationship with the show, mainly because the participants are usually very annoying, looking for american-style amenities in developing countries.

LaPetiote:  Lol I don’t know the deal with the microwave but I do understand not wanting the laundry in the kitchen. You really only see that here in very small apartments.

Cook without lighting a fire? What type of setup did they have? Does she want an electric stove? We have either gas ranges (turn a knob, fire comes on) or electric tops. I’ve never had to “start a fire” to cook lol

Ellie85:  I’d heard the same!  I still watch it, but I grumble every time that they already live in one of the houses/apartments and this is all for show!

LaPetiote:  LOL @ her not wanting a gas stove. I actually prefer them! Though I don’t think I’d like handling my dirty knickers 2 feet from where I cook 😛
