It’s been said here before, but I’ve been decluttering so in the process I’ve been selling my old books on Amazon. I can’t get a lot for them, but it’s still more $$$ than just having them lay around gathering dust. See if you can sell anything that you don’t really need.

As for other odd jobs – I have friends who offer private tutoring in a foreign language or give piano instruction. Could you do anything like that?

I tutor.  I also teach at community college, but that doesn’t produce income immediately!

You could offer to walk dogs, I guess…I think people pay for that!

@HonoraryNerd:  you could always look into participating in market surveys or other research.

@HonoraryNerd:  It’s where you sell all that extra stuff you have sitting around.

@HonoraryNerd:  I am really good at sewing, so I will advertise my sewing services around the few towns around where I live. It’s great extra money. I should put up my signs again, actually! I had a sewing hiatus because of grad school, but now I could work some sewing in again and goodness knows I could use extra money!

Can you sew? If you’re moderately good at sewing, you could always put up a few signs for pants hemming and any other alterations you feel you could do nicely, and I bet you’d get people within a week or two.

@HonoraryNerd:  Does your FI work? Do you live together? If I were in your shoes I would look to FI to support us both for the month.
