Most of dh’s past attempts receipts say CVS pharmacy at the top, so he’s like your SO, he’s thoughtful but they have always fallen flat. I truly know that he is slightly overwhelmed by the whole gift giving thing, so at least he was trying. He’s learning though, he’s started calling my mom before he pays for anything and she knows me really well and wouldn’t let him make any more CVS errors.

My FI is slightly obsessed with gifts. When we were long-distance, he had a star named after me. Basically he will never ever be able to top that!

He likes me to open LOTS of gifts, but most of them are silly/ugly/small things. Like weird soaps or mugs with my name on or whatnot.

I know he wanted to get me a sewing machine this year, but we’re too broke, so I think he’s getting me something sewing related. And I know he’s getting me the perfume I’ve always wanted (Armani Code).

He’s really good at listening to my carefully placed hints. 😀

ETA: if left to his own devices, I think I’d have lots of stuff definitely NOT to my taste. Other than the star, his own choices suffer from (gasp!) bad taste, lmao.

@taraelisabeth:  I bought him a tablet, he’s a technophobe,  so I’m hoping that me logging his amazon app into my/our account will help. He’ll have access to my wish lists, that’s if he can find it, and it’s all organized into categories. Maybe I’ll make a category that says “OMG I really want these things!”. Think that’s too subtle?

@prahajess:  at least I’ll know when he’s seen it as he’ll ask me what OMG stands for. (he finally asked me what lol was last week)

Omg, my SO is perfect at buying gifts for me. It’s scary. And then it makes me feel bad because I never know what to get him. LOL.

That’s just for me though. For other people his gifts are kind of hit or miss.

@taraelisabeth:  lol. I feel so much better knowing I’m not alone in the struggle with a good intentioned, bad gifter SO. We need a secret handshake.

He’s actually pretty phenomial at it. He’s good at taking hints and getting me exactly what I want.
