I always give them $3-5 unless we have a big order or they got to our house really fast, but usually for one/two pizzas 3-5 is plenty
Usually a couple of bucks...so I guess that ends up being 10% or 15% since our takeout is usually around $20 or $30
@maureen9004: I generally tip 5 bucks. I usually go pick it up, especially if there are a ton of them.
It usually ends up being between 10-15% of the bill because I tip between $2-$5 depending on how big the order is, but not how fast it arrives because with seamlesseweb I tip ahead of time so I can put it on my credit card.
I usually tip a few dollars which probably ends up being 10%-15% of the bill.
$2 because it is a rare occasion that we order a pizza. Our pizza place is a mile from out house.
I've often wondered about this as well. I always tip 20% because I figure that is what you are supposed to tip waiters and this is even better - they are driving the food to me :)
I rarely have it delivered either, but usually 20-30%. I always feel bad for pizza delivery people for some reason. It's not like normal waitressing jobs, and I think it must be torture to ride around smelling pizza all the time. Plus, I feel like that's a job that a lot of college kids have, or people having difficulty finding a job, so I want to help them out a little. :)
I suppose I should add that I tip about $5 because when we order it's under $20. Generally if I were ordering a bigger order I would pick it up myself.
I honestly wouldn't even know either! DH is very adamant about going to pick it up so we don't have to tip lol.
I usually tip 10% which ends up being a few dollars.... If the weather is bad, like if it's raining hard or we're having a bad snowstorm I always tip a lot more because I feel bad that they are riding around in crappy weather while I'm sitting in my warm, dry home. :(
We generally order at the max 2 pizzas at a time.
I shoot for $4, sometimes $5
about 20%. more if it's bad weather. hey it's worth giving the guy $10 bucks to risk his life when i don't feel like being in the crappy snow. (i live in colorado but i'm originally from san diego and drive a rear wheel drive vehicle and i drive it like a southern californian.) i do this with all food delivery -- not just chinese food. i once worked with a girl that was appalled by the fact that i tipped the chinese food delivery guy. in her mind, she couldn't fathom why you would tip the pizza delivery guy and not the chinese food delivery guy.
We also always pick up, my husband refuses to pay for tip when he can just pick it up himself.

I read online 15-20 percent of the bill.
Edit: I'm genuinely very curious about this- I've never ordered delivery and usually pick it up myself. There's some really passionate things posted about this online. The question is prompted because I just ordered my first delivery order and have no idea what to tip :)
