I work at a no-kill animal shelter, and sometimes I forget that what I do REALLY does make a difference. I just saw the newest Humane Society commercial and it brought me to tears (they all do, but this one really got to me). It opens up with a picture of a neglected animal and it just says “What did I do wrong?” and goes on with sad/abused/neglected animals with questions “Why did you hurt me?” “Why did you abandon me” etc etc.
When your around that stuff everyday you kind of forget how big of a deal it is. Granted, the shelter I work at doesn’t get very many horribly abused or neglected animals, but we’ve had 5 or 6 cases the last year or so that have been heartbreaking (out of hundreds). But it is so rewarding to know (and be reminded) that what I do makes a difference.
So congrats to anyone involved in rescue organizations, and THANK YOU to all who have rescued animals and gave animals in need a forever home and help to save another life in the process!
