accidentally, of course! But it really hurts! I was trying to fix the stapler, it was full but wouldn’t shoot out the staples, until of course I put my finger over the opening! It stabbed me right in the joint under my fingernail on my pointer and middle finger… and now it’s so sore, i can barely bend it!! And I feel stupid for actually stapling my fingers together!
Has anyone else stapled their finger before? Should I worry about infection?

Ouch! I would keep an eye on it, any wound can get infected.

I got scratched under my nail before by a kitty that has…well, we’ll call them “issues”. Wow it hurt, so I know your pain!
It’s a tricky spot, so I was just sure to keep it clean and put a bit of ointment on. Were the staples brand new?

they weren’t brand new, but they weren’t too old, and clean, not at all rusty or anything. I can’t believe it went all the way in! my finger isn’t that thick so it went like halfway through!

I’ve done something similar to that before, but not together, just have been trying to get a staple off and it jammed underneath my finger nail, and yikes that hurts. Anytime you’ve got your skin broken you should worry about infection. Get hydrogen peroxide as best you can under your nail or wherever the stapler went. Hydrogen peroxide is a great great thing (well at least I think so), just get it on there in the morning and evening and you should be fine. If there’s an area that’s not under your nail you can also point the antibioitic ointment on.

it’s actually not under my nail, just on the first joint of my finger, after the nail but on the inside. They hit about the same point on both of my fingers but only my middle one hurts to bend.

How is your finger a few days later?
