That’s weird, but I don’t think it would ever be considered harassment.  And honestly, I think saying something to her might just make it awkward.  Why not just let her keep her barrier up?

Not harassment. I’d just leave her be myself. Or put her stapler in a bowl of Jello…

HAHA. Tonight when she leaves add 3 reams of paper to the 6. Big bad bully can stack paper! BUT SO CAN YOU!

there are a few things you could do.

Next time you move them out of the way make a joke about how the wall of paper is making you feel like you’re alone in a cave,

Next time you come back from a coffee break, bring her one as well.

It’s the holiday season, pick her up something cute that “you saw and it made you think of her, so you had to buy it”

Ask another girl if they know whats going on.

Say, Hey! We used to chat all the time, I can’t believe how busy we’ve been i miss our chit chat.

I’m sure other bees have been in your situation and will have better recommendations for you.

And no, it’s not harassment, but it is workplace bullying.

@hjg0126: If it is getting in your way of you doing your work, then say just that to her.  But I don’t get how it’s disrespectful…if I didn’t have walls around me, I don’t think I’d be able to get any work done, and I’d probably want to build a barrier too!

@hjg0126: When you have to move it, put it near her, in her way. Really. Bullies only do things they think bother you. Obviously she knows this bothers you. I’m not saying my way is the most mature, but in terms of other options you don’t really have a lot.

@hjg0126:

Hi -Was actually going to write something else, but it sounds like your instincts and clues she’s giving are pretty clear that there’s an issue there. One of the things that helps me in situations like this (and I’ve been in them) is to tell myself she doesn’t know me well enough to really dislike me, there’s something going on that is so not about me. I think if it were me and I were feeling brave I’d just say that putting that paper where she’s got it makes it difficult to load the printer, is there a reason it needs to be there? See what she says.

Then you can ask her. Like an adult what the hell her problem is. Bringing HR in would cause a world of hurt. There’s not a lot they can do about it and then you’re a snitch. So she’s REALLY not going to like you then. Either have some fun with her and her paper palace, or ask her, “hey, what’s up with the papercave batman?”

Is your firm set up so that your desks are visible by clients? Because I think that would be enough to put the nonsense to rest. I’d just take them down, and mention to her that it’s a bit distracting and probably not the most professional looking setting for the office.

I don’t think it’s harassment so much, but if you ask her to stop, try to work out the problem and she still continues doing it, then I’d maybe bring it up in a more firm manner or take it to HR…it’s rude and disruptive.

Im not really understanding how it is in your way and preventing you from doing your job.  But if it is, then you need to talk to her. This is what I would say

“Hey, Was there a reason you stacked all of these here?  I don’t mind getting more paper if we need it, but anymore than 2 reams sitting here is kind of in my way.  I’m going to move these 4 reams back to the supply room but if you need more let me know”.
